1 John 2:1-6 Do as you saw Theme: 39. Sin. 2007. 11. 11.

Introduction

: How can we know that we really know God?

The Bible suggests 7 methods of testing (1 John 2:3~29).

The text is about whether we keep God's commandments as the first test method. (3-6)

1. Advocate Jesus Christ (1~2)

2. Test 1: Do you keep God's commandments?

1. Advocate Jesus Christ. (1~2)

1 John 1:10 says, “If we say that we have not sinned, we are making God a liar.

His word is not in us.”

A believer must not commit a sin. But if he sins, God has something in store for him.

Two facts about this are mentioned.

1) Jesus Christ is our “advocate” before God.(1)

Jesus Christ has the authority to defend himself because he is righteous.

* The only righteousness acceptable to God is the perfect and ideal righteousness of Christ.

* Because only the righteousness of Christ is recognized to be defended in the courts of God. (Has authority)

2) Jesus Christ is the “propitiation sacrifice” for our sins. (2)

A “professional offering” is a sacrifice for sins, atonement for sins, atonement, paying the price, and wrath for sin.

means to solve

The only way to satisfy God's justice is to have a perfect human being without sin come forward and replace the punishment of sin with God.

must be able to satisfy the justice of no other human

Jesus Christ is an ideal and perfect human being.

He took the responsibility and punishment of sin for all men.

What is crucially important is that a person comes to Jesus Christ and He is his advocate (advocate) before God

You have to believe in the heart. You must believe that you are the only advocate.

2. Do you keep God's commandments? (3-6)

Do you really know God? The first of the test methods is whether we keep God's commandments.

If God exists, those who reject God

① The purpose of life and its meaning and value will be lost.

② It means to stand before God's holiness and justice.

God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world to reveal the truth to man, that is, about God,

He had us tell the truth about man himself, about the world in which he lives, and about the world to come.

① Except for Jesus Christ, no human has ever gone to the spiritual world and returned.

(John 3:13, 6:33, 38, 50-51, 8:42, 13:3, 17:5)

② Jesus Christ saved mankind from destruction and gave them abundant life now and forever.

you came (John 3:16, 36, 5:24, 10:10)

③ Jesus Christ said that the reason God sent Himself was to make God known. (John 5:38, 6:29, 7:28, 8:26, 12:45, 14:7, 16:15, Col 2:9, 1 Timothy 3:16, Heb 1:3)

1) If we keep God's commandments, we truly know God. (3)

God's main commandments are

. ① To know God, we must know the name of His Son, Jesus Christ.

* The reason Jesus Christ came into the world was to reveal God, so we

If you believe, you will soon come to know God.

* Through faith in Jesus Christ, we keep God's commandments.

② To know God, we must love each other.

* Love includes all the commandments of God (Romans 13:8-10).

The only way for us to know God more is to follow Him.

① We act as God does,

② The more you love, the more you will know God.

* Therefore, if we keep His commandments, we know Him.

(John 7:16-17, 8:31, 51, 1 John 2:3, Hos 6:3)

2). There are liars who profess to believe that they know God.(4)

If a person says he knows God and does not keep God's commandments, then he is a liar. Therefore, man must continue to follow Jesus Christ and do what Christ did.

We must keep the commandments of God. Only then will you come to know God.

(Matthew 7:21, 6, John 13:35, Titus 1:16, Ephesians 5:1-6, Psalm 78:35-36, Ezekiel 33:31-32)

3). If you keep the word of God, you love God and you are in God. (5)

The word “protect” refers to continuous action. This means being obedient in your daily life.

A person who keeps the word of God will have God's love completed in his life.

No matter how religious we are, if we do not obey God, he does not know God, does not love Him, and is not in God.

(Matthew 7:25-27, 12:50, John 7:17, 14:23, 31, 15:10, 14, Revelation 22:14, Deuteronomy 5:29)

4). Those who are in God must live as Christ lived. (6)

How did Jesus Christ live?

① He trusted and depended on God.

② I feared God and prayed to God.

③ He had fellowship with God.

④ He sacrificed himself and everything he had to God.

⑤ He sought and followed God.

⑥ He taught and told others about God.

⑦ He loved and cared for others as God said.

⑧ He obeyed and kept all the commandments of God.

We must do worship, prayer, and everything else we have seen Christ do.

(Rom 6:4, 2 Cor 5:7, Gal 5:16, Ephesians 4:1, 5:2, 15, 1 John 1:7, 2:6, Matthew 16:24, John 13:15, Philippians 2:5 ,

Colossians 3:13, Hebrews 3:12, 1 Peter 2:21)
