Do you know the title (Isaiah 42:1-4)
Contents There is one common concern among believers in Jesus that our real life does not match our confession of faith. The Bible tells us to be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. Love even your enemies. Do not hate. To lust with lust in your heart is already committing adultery in your heart.
However, no matter how determined we are and how hard we try, we always sin, and when it comes to worship on Sunday, we repeat the prayer of repentance. However, it is only once or twice to pray for repentance, but every time I come to the chapel, I pray for repentance.
But, saints, we must not be discouraged or discouraged. Because the Lord forgives and accepts us.
In today's text, the Lord said to us, "He will not break a bruised reed, nor put out a smoldering lamp, He will show justice with the truth."
Today, focusing on these texts, under the title of “You don’t know,” we are going to study the Word by examining the mercy of God who knows and forgives all our shortcomings.
1 In today's text, we can see that God describes us, His chosen people, as “bruised reeds” and “fading lamps”.
Then I will tell you what these bruised reeds and burning lamps mean.
1) What do you mean by bruised reed?
A bruised reed refers to the ugly appearance of a reed that has been bent badly and then thrown on the ground and dried up.
2) What does the extinguishing lamp mean?
The extinguishing lamp refers to the completely useless appearance of a lamp that should be exposed to light, rather than revealing the light, the fire is extinguished and only a scorching bird is emitted.
3) What do these two parables teach us today?
The lesson these two parables give us today is that God already knows that we are useless and wretched sinners.
In a word, even though he knew that we were all poor, he chose us and sent Jesus Christ to us, burdening him with all legal requirements and punishing him, saving us as children of God.
He saved us with his grace, his mercy, and his love, even though he knew that we were not worthy of salvation, but that we are like a bruised reed and like a burning lamp.
2 Let us never forget that we are children of God
It is saying that even though we are living a poor life now, we must always recognize that we are children of God and live our lives.
Just like a goggle lives in the ground, but one day, when the time comes, he will completely take off his old form, put on wings, fly in the blue sky, and sing with a beautiful sound.
Why? It's because of Jesus. Because of Jesus, we are children of God despite inequity. Here's a reason to be grateful and a reason to rejoice.
3 Why does God give us commands that we cannot keep?
Then, why is God giving us orders that are unreasonable, that is, commands that we cannot keep?
It is because we are already children of God. God's command to be perfect and to love even our enemies is not presented as a condition for us to become children of God, but rather the level we must achieve in the future because we have already become children of God.
4 Why do we always fail, get frustrated, and discouraged?
It is because they depend on God with their lips, but they do not depend on the Lord in real life. Knowing all of us like a bruised reed and a quenching lamp, yet demanding that we be perfect does not mean that we should reach this level with our own strength and power. God speaks to us. Behold my servant whom I hold, my chosen one, who rejoices in my heart.
Now, let's summarize today's words.
1 Even though we are poor beings, it is because of Jesus that we enjoy the privileges of children of God.
2 It is because of Jesus that we can reach the perfect level despite our weakness.
3 Today, Jesus intercedes for us at the right hand of God, and he still pours out the Holy Spirit on us to help us reach perfection.
Now let's all depend on Jesus.
Let's look to Jesus.
Every moment, every event, when we depend on Jesus, we will be able to live a victorious life and a new life of joy.
I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become all the saints who reach perfection by relying on Jesus for the rest of your life.
