do you want to get better
(July 30, 2006) (John 5:2~9)
Dear Kyungil Church members - First of all, I would like to wish you all healthy members in body, mind, body and soul.
Although it is not a health lecture for health today, it is God's will that we, the greatest creatures created in God's image, live healthy.
If you want to live a healthy life, first of all, have a good posture.
*When a person's posture is correct - The most correct posture is to look forward with the eyes facing upwards about 15 degrees. - A posture with your head down is a posture that harms your health.
Would it be just the body? So is the soul.
*If you want your soul to become a good soul, always have an upward and forward-looking mind. - Do not look back, do not look down - Always look up and forward.
*Especially for people of faith - Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is to live as if you have already attained what has not yet been fulfilled.
When Jesus went to the Bethesda Pool by the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem, many people were encamped there. They are all people in a similar situation. These are people who have gathered to heal the sick.
Among them, the scene of Jesus healing the sickest of the worst is introduced.
1. A miserable reality.
All the people gathered by the Pond of Bedasda are poor people, but let's look at the condition of the most miserable among them.
*He's been ill for 38 years. - It's not a big deal to get sick at least once, but it's serious if you get sick and haven't been able to heal for 38 years. I live alone without anyone.
*I have become unable to even move - The disease is not a small disease - After a long period of time - It is a miserable state of being unable to move and lying down.
At the entrance of a facility for the disabled in Korea, there is a writing that says - “If you can eat it, you will be blessed.”
It is a wish that no matter how poor you are and you go out to eat, you want to be healthy enough to eat.
How miserable is a 38-year-old sick man who has been abandoned by his family and is lying in bed without a caregiver?
*He didn't get any help - How lucky are you that our country still has facilities for the disabled and reserved seats for the elderly even if they take the train?
However, the people gathered by the pool of Bethesda - as it is said that when the water rises, whoever enters first gets better - only competitors competing to get in first, with no one to help. - How much is Abiguous?
I earnestly wish that the miserable appearance was not yours.
Of course, your body isn't like that, which is a good thing.
But just in case, check the state of your soul.
Maybe a sick soul? Maybe it's a soul lying down and unable to get up? Do you have a soul that needs help or a state where you can't get help? - Please check the state of your soul.
2. Is there any hope?
Do you have hope for the future, not the present situation? don't you? is more important.
*Sinner Judas Iscariot - He went to hell because he committed suicide - asking what a sinner would do while he was alive - because he had no hope.
*Peter was also a sinner - but he also had the hope that sinners need to be forgiven - so he repented and was forgiven.
* Naaman the leper - went to the prophet with hope - and was healed.
*The widow of the poor prophetess - went to the prophet with hope - and got rid of poverty.
*After 38 years of illness, he was turned away from his family, unable to move freely, and living in a miserable reality with no one to turn to for help. - That was the stepping stone for a life reversal.
As soon as I heard that the first person to enter when the water of Bethesda is frozen will be healed of any disease, hope arose. My ears lit up, my eyes lit up. How a man who had been motionless and lying still got there. The courage to lie down on the shore of a pond - how touching is that?
Whenever the water moves, the person who can move is the first to go in and get cured. - The person who can't move even after seeing it clearly - The person who does not give up - The person who is always last but does not give up - That person is the person who has hope. .
Everyone - What is more important than reality is the hope for the future. Hope you have a wish.
And I hope that you will become people who do not give up even if that wish does not come true easily.
*Even if you have a physical illness - a wish to be healthy, *even if you are poor - a wish to become rich, *even if you have sins - to be forgiven and to be loved, *even if you are at the bottom of a fictional day - your wish to be number one someday, - to hope I hope you become a bunch of hopeful people.
3. A person who has fulfilled his wish.
A person who suffered from a disease for 38 years, a person who could not move freely and was lying in bed, and a person who lived alone without finding anyone to help - I still had the hope that I could heal my ailing body.
Although the body does not heal over the years, no matter how hard I try, I can't move faster than anyone else - but I can't give up. For those who have never left Bethesda Pond with the patience to never go back - the chance has finally come to make a wish come true.
(5:9) - “Soon the man was healed, took up his bed, and walked” - Hallelujah !!
How did you overcome that miserable reality - how did you become a healthy person?
The answer is simple. - Because Jesus met people who were waiting with hope.
(5:8)- “Jesus said to him, Get up, pick up your bed and walk.” - Jesus healed it.
No matter how old he was, no matter how serious the disease was, no matter how hard it was to move, no one helped him - Jesus healed him and it was solved. - Your wish has come true.
We need to remember one important word of Jesus here.
(5:6)- “When Jesus saw that he was lying down, he knew that he had been ill for a long time, and said, “Do you want to get well?”
*How old are you? You didn't ask. *Is there no one who can put you in the water? You didn't ask.
*How did you get sick from what sin? He didn't even ask - if he had asked that, he wouldn't have been able to answer a word.
Jesus only asked one thing. do you want to get better What is your wish? that's what you asked.
Do you have a wish to get better? you asked.
Beloved saints, just because it is impossible with human power does not mean that God cannot do it.
Even things that are impossible with human strength can be easily solved with God's help.
*Is it possible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? - So the disciples were worried that it was impossible. - What did Jesus say then? (Matthew 19:26) - “Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” - Amen ????
Dear saints, today we saw a miserable 38-year-old sick man. - But he was healed. - What was the secret? - There were only two secrets.
①There was an unshakable hope, ②It was possible when Jesus granted it. - I hope that you will never lose hope. - I pray that you will become victorious believers with God's help.
