Do not judge by appearance... (John 7:14-24)
At the end of the 19th century, a chaebol couple lived in the United States. Their only son died of typhoid. During the weeks of the year of their son's death, the old couple decided to use their entire fortune to educate other children instead of their son. The next day, the elderly couple visited the prestigious Harvard University in the United States. As they were about to enter the front door, the guard saw two old men in shabby clothes and called them up. Then he asked unkindly. "Where are you going, old men?"
"I'm here to see the president." The janitor responded with a very contemptuous demeanor. "The president doesn't have time to meet you guys!" The old couple was displeased with the janitor's attitude, but they asked for one last word. “How much does it cost to set up a university?” "How do I know that? Why do people like you ask that?" The old couple, who were hurt in their hearts, decided to build their own school, making donations a no-brainer. So, the university that was founded was Stanford University, the most prestigious university in the western United States. These elderly couples were Leland Stanford and Leland Stanford, who were then American railroad tycoons and senators. Harvard University, who learned of this belatedly, regretted it and reflected on its mistakes that day. Since then, the following inscriptions have been affixed to the front door of Harvard University.
"Don't judge people by their looks!"...
The same thing happened to Jesus. Jesus went up to the temple in Jerusalem on the Feast of Tabernacles and taught the Word in front of many people. Jesus' teaching was excellent. He taught incomparably better than the scribes who were Bible teachers at the time. People say in amazement. “This person is uneducated, how does he know how to write?” Originally, Jesus was raised as the son of a poor carpenter, so he had no experience in attending a formal school or studying under a good teacher. However, he taught the laws of the Old Testament, and he knew more than a doctor and taught them better. He was demeaning Jesus by saying, ‘How does that ignorant know so well?’ So the conclusion of Jesus' words is this. Verse 24: “Do not judge by appearance, but judge righteously.”
It has been reported that the top beauty actress Kim Hye-soo is dating a male supporting actor Yoo Hae-jin. Many netizens said, "Isn't Kim Hye-soo a loss?" Because Kim Hye-soo is so pretty but Hae-jin is ugly, and Kim Hye-soo is the lead role but Hae-jin is a supporting actor. Not to mention Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Hye-soo must have been quite upset. Judging people by their looks, this is really evil.
When Jesus heard that the Jews were ignoring him as an ignorant man, he was not discouraged. Verses 16-17 “Jesus answered and said to them, My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If a man will do the will of God, he will know whether this doctrine is from God or whether I speak of my own accord.” What Jesus taught outstandingly was that he did not teach with the knowledge that Jesus himself had learned, but that he received it from God. Anyone who strives to do the will of God will know whether the lessons I teach are of my own making or come from God. You said.
God gave such Jesus the ability to teach the Word excellently, the power to move millions of people, the power of compassion that makes people cry when they see the sick, the disabled, or the poor, and the power of love and mercy to heal them no matter what. It was a manifestation of God's power. I bless you today that this ability will be manifested in you.
That's right. God used the staff in Moses' hand. He pointed the staff at the Red Sea and the Red Sea parted. When he struck the rock with his staff, a spring of water came out of the rock. Even a humble staff was used as an instrument of God's power. No matter how weak and insignificant people are, as long as they are held in God's hand, they can be used as great people of God.
Take a look around us. How many saints do the power of God? How much do you give even if you don't have anything? Don't uneducated people shame those who have learned a lot?
Guys, don't you have anything? no power? Do you consider yourself weak? That's right. It is true. But more importantly, God is with you. It is an unchanging truth that God is holding on to you. You are a man of God. God wants to show His power through you today.
It is said that Socrates had an ugly face, small eyes, and was short in stature. Calvin, the Reformer, was also a skinny man with bad eyesight and nervousness. It is said that President Lincoln was nicknamed the gorilla because of his skinny body and face and unusually long legs. It is said that the apostle Paul, the greatest person in the Bible, was also short in stature and had a poor appearance with poor eyesight. After being rejected in the past, teacher Baek Beom Kim was looking for another way in life, but after hearing his father say, "If you want to do great things, first learn how to see people." If fate was decided as it happened, his future was blocked and there was no hope. However, it was only after reading the following article that Mr. Kim Koo did not stick to his appearance and studied again and became a leader of the nation. "A good-looking face is not as good as a healthy body, and a healthy body is not as good as a healthy mind."
How do you feel? You are God's work. You are God's beloved people. Everything you have comes from God. Your circumstances and conditions are all given by God. A person who has this kind of faith has the power of God in him. God will reveal His power through Him.
