2 Kings (23) Do not leave your seat
(2 Kings 9:14-26)
<Do not leave your seat>
At that time, Joram had returned to Jezreel to heal his wounds while defending Ramoth of Gilead against Hazael, king of Syria. At that time, Jehu put him under control for the fact that he had been crowned king, and then got on a chariot and went to Jezreel, where King Joram was lying.
Then, when a watchman from the Tower of Jezreel reported that Jehu's group was coming from afar, King Joram sent a messenger to inquire about the situation with the Syrians. When Jehu did not return him, he sent a second messenger to inquire about the war with the Syrians, but he did not return him either. And frantically drove the chariot towards the king. However, not knowing the urgency of the situation, he went out to meet him, and the place he met was the field of Naboth the Jezreelite (verse 22).
Joram, who had met Jehu in Naboth’s field, said, “Jehu! Are you in peace?” Jehu answered. “How can you be at peace because your mother Jezebel has so many fornications and sorcery?” (verse 22). In this word, 'Jezebel's fornication' means 'Jezebel's idolatry', and 'magic' means 'Jezebel's political craftsmanship and magical and magical beliefs'. In the end, Jehu’s revolution was caused primarily by ‘Jezebel’s idolatry and various deceptive political maneuvers and evil deeds’.
A proverb comes to mind when I look at Jezebel. “If the hen crows, the house is ruined.” There are social climates and autocratic husbands who misuse the proverb to silence their wives, but the proverb is that if the wife is wrong, she will perish, not to make her dumb. If you look closely, there are more cases of failure by not listening to your wife and bossing high-quality female workers. So the fortress is changing the proverb like this. “When the hen crows, the family prospers.”
In fact, couples should play the role of encouraging each other in the good and deterring each other in the bad. Why did God give you a spouse? One of the biggest reasons is that you have been given to live by learning from your spouse. Therefore, the best secret of the most successful and happiest married life lies in this confession. “Learn from your spouse!”
The meaning of the saying, “If a hen crows, the family perishes” means that if you leave your seat and be too harsh, you will perish. If the husband is the king, the husband is the king and the queen is not the king, but if the queen acts like a king, the country will gradually collapse. If the husband is the president, the husband cannot act like the president, but the wife cannot act like the president. Conversely, if the wife is the president, the wife cannot act like the president, but the husband cannot act like the president. If you deviate from your position, status, and position and behave arrogantly, like Jezebel, the end will be miserable and you will become a sinner of history.
< The blessing of life centered on the Word >
Upon hearing Jehu's words, Joram immediately turned the chariot by hand and ran away. “King Ahaziah! It is rebellion (verse 23).” If you see yourself returning the chariot, it means that Joram, who has almost recovered from the disease, drove the chariot himself without an escort. He would have never imagined that the prognosis he trusted so much would cause such a rebellion. People are not trustworthy, but more importantly, they failed to trust the people. The public is terrifying. If you do not win people's hearts, problems, trials, and rebellions can come in an instant like a thief.
When Joram noticed the rebellion, he hurriedly turned his chariot and fled, but Jehu drew his bow with all his strength and shot him between his arms, and an arrow pierced his heart, and he died (verse 24). Then Jehu had his lieutenant general Bitgar throw Joram's body into Naboth's field to fulfill the prophecy God had given regarding Naboth (verses 25-26). Jehu emphasized the “word of the Lord” several times to show that his actions were according to God’s will (verse 26). In the end, it was the ‘Word of God’ that made Jehu’s actions into a revolution rather than a rebellion.
Human behavior is usually ambivalent, so it can be criticized badly or glorified for good, depending on your point of view and values. The same goes for cases and problems. Those events and problems can be a crisis or an opportunity. Where does the difference come from? The key factor that makes the difference is the ‘Word of God’. It teaches well how important the Word-centered values, perspective, life and decisions are.
The two most important things when traveling abroad are ‘passport and guide’. The ultimate home of saints is heaven. The two most important things on the pilgrimage to heaven are the ‘Heaven Passport and the Word Guide’. Only when we have the Word of God like this can we enjoy the final victory while making a pilgrimage in joy, joy and peace. Make a successful life by always trying to live by the word and make your pilgrimage on this earth happy.
