Sermon Text I John 2:7-11
7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water."
8 Now, he said, “Take it out and bring it to the banquet hall.”
9 The banquet hall tasted the water-based wine and did not know where it came from, but the servants who drew it knew. The banquet hall called the bridegroom
10 They said, "Everyone makes good wine first, and after they get drunk, they serve low things; but you have kept good wine until now."
11 When Jesus performed these first signs in Cana of Galilee and showed his glory, the disciples believed in him.
Sermon content
The title of the text to be witnessed at this time is ‘The wedding feast in Cana’.
Jesus turned water into wine for the first time at a wedding in Cana.
Verse 11 says, “Jesus performed these first signs in Cana of Galilee and showed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.”
The greatest of the signs is the sign of Jonah and the death and death of Jesus.
Other signs are to show the existence of God and the saving work of Christ.
A sign is a revelation given to unbelievers to believe.
Believers must walk the path of Jonah's sign, the way of life and death.
The lesson to be learned from the text is first, the church is a place for newcomers to unite.
Here, ‘Marriage in Canae of Galilee’ represents an inward marriage through an outward marriage.
The wedding house represents the church, the union of Christ and the saints.
The wedding house must first of all have the union of the groom and the bride. No matter how good the food is, there are many banquet halls
Even if guests gather and a big feast is held, it is of no use if the groom and the bride do not become one.
Likewise, the church should be the center and purpose of new-person union.
A believer must have an essential, natural, and vital union with God.
We need to come to church, meet God, become like God, and live together with God.
Also, the wedding house should have plenty of plants to eat.
If the feast house has no food or lack of food, it is a disaster.
The church, like the wedding banquet house, should be rich in spiritual food and spiritual food.
The blood of Jesus, the doctrine of redemption from murder, and the truth and inspirational words must abound.
Also, it was Jesus who made water into wine and showed the signs.
Just like the servants who filled up the jars, we too should obey Jesus' words and see signs.
