How to Get Out of Anxiety (Matthew 6:25-34)
Therefore, do not be anxious and say, "What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what shall we wear? These are all the Gentiles seek, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things" (Matthew 6:31-32)
The theme of Matthew 6:25-34 is “Do not be anxious.” This is what Jesus said. Hearing these words, it seems that Jesus did not know the things of the world, or that he did not know how hard and difficult life people are living in this world. Who cares because who cares? We are concerned because of the environment in which we have no choice but to worry. But Jesus is not the one who does not know the things of the world or the reality of our hard life. Jesus Himself suffered the suffering of all people on this earth and lived a hard life. Jesus tells us not to be anxious because he knows that worrying is of no help and harm when we are going through a hard and painful life.
And he teaches you how to get rid of anxiety. To get rid of anxiety, people try to earn money and get high positions. But money and worldly success do not relieve us from worry. Even if you have a lot of money, even if you succeed, you cannot get rid of your worries. The more money you have and the higher your status, the more you worry. The way Jesus taught us to be free from anxiety.
First, you must be faithful to what you are currently doing. Worry comes when we are lazy and not doing what we should be doing. You need to find something you can do now. People are concerned because they are trying to do something they cannot do. The lilies in the field work for survival without resting for a moment. Birds get up early to find food. Since I work hard at the given task, there is no room for worry. Second, you must have a purpose in life that goes beyond eating well and living well. A person whose life goal is to eat well and live well cannot escape from anxiety. There is always someone who has a better life than you, and if you don't have it, you're worried that you don't have it, and if you do, you'll lose it. Eating well and living well is not the purpose of life. It is an animal instinct. Animals also have the instinct to eat well, live well and live comfortably. We must live with the high purpose of seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness. A person who has a dream to come true even if he is hungry or death comes, sweats and toils, but is not concerned. Third, think of everything in relation to God.
Jesus said that the cause of anxiety is lack of faith. Faith is a habit of thinking in relation to God. When you think of everything in relation to God, your worries go away. God knows everything and helps.
