Psalm 107:1~9 He will fill you with good things Topic: 2. Thanksgiving 2006. 11. 19.
◎ Introduction
: This is a hymn of thanks for those who have experienced salvation in the reality of suffering.
※ Based on specific experiences, it shows that God's ①historical providence and ②natural providence both move around the “province of salvation for his people”, so that the people can unchangingly trust God.
※ It is about the mercy and goodness of God that punishes sin but gives salvation to those who repent.
The lesson to be taught is that examples of salvation made in the past do not end in the past, but are always present.
※ While teaching that God's providence to individuals also applies to national communities,
It teaches you to rely on the present moment.
※ The content of Psalm 107 is “Praise for the grace of salvation that has been delivered from trouble”
1. Gratitude and praise of the community that experienced the grace of redemption (1-3)
2. Examples of the grace of redemption delivered from suffering (4-32)
3. God's sovereignty and mercy (33-43)
1. Gratitude and praise of the community that experienced the grace of redemption (1-3)
One). This poem about the goodness and mercy of God is based on the historical experience of the entire Israeli community.
2). Date of Writing: “After the Return of the Babylonian Captivity”
※ The experience of salvation when they returned to their homeland was the content of their thanks and praise.
3). “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good and his lovingkindness endures forever” (1)
: It is usually a service of thanksgiving, or an admonition given by the priest to the congregation gathered in the temple prior to it.
※ This exhortation was used at the beginning of the Thanksgiving Festival, as can be seen in Jeremiah 33:11.
As done individually, during worship, each of the congregations offered an offering of thanks, praising God.
This is usually an opportunity to fulfill a vow or make a new vow.
4). Grateful Reason: He is good and His mercy endures forever.
5). Verses 2-3 are the congregation's response to the priest's request in verse 1 of “supplication and fulfillment.”
