Look only to the Lord (Psalm 62:1-8)
It is said that six million Jews were slaughtered by the Nazis during World War II. They were brutally slaughtered in prison camps or in dungeons. But after the war, something was found in the dungeon. These words were engraved on the wall with the Star of David with their fingernails. "Even though the sun doesn't shine, I believe the sun is there. Although I can't feel the love right now, I believe there is still love there. Even though God is silent now, I believe that God lives." Believe."
We must always look to God. Whatever the path, as long as you have an experienced guide, you have nothing to worry about. But, where are the experienced guides like God on the road of life? God knows which way is the right way, the way to victory, and the safe way, so we have to go out looking only at God. It is because God will help you no matter where you are or what environment you are in, as long as your relationship with God is right.
Psalm 62 is a psalm of prayer that David cried out to God when he was in trouble. Although it is a heartbreaking poem, it teaches a lesson about the right faith to have in God. It tells you how to be saved when you are in trouble. It is not about solving the problem in a human way, but about trusting God and waiting. Many trials and tribulations follow along the path of life. It may come through events and accidents, it may come through people, or it may come through one's own fault. Therefore, it is impossible to live life without difficulties. But the question is how to solve that difficulty. David in the text looked to only God and depended on him when he was in trouble. He was not anxious and waited quietly while looking at God. Nothing in this world can be our strength and ability. The world cannot be a rock, it cannot be a salvation, much less a refuge. Wherever you are, look to the Lord and look only to you.
We all praise "Only look to the Lord". “Those who long for God’s love, those who look to God’s peace, how much our Lord, who created you all, loves you, those who praise and worship God, those who resemble God’s goodness, create all of you Our Lord has made you a child of God. God looks at you at all times with the eyes of God's love, and with His loving ears He is always attentive to you, shining a bright light in the darkness and answering your small groans, wherever you are. and look to the Lord only." Why should we look to God?
First, because he is my salvation, we must look only to God.
This is verse 1 of the text. "My soul is silent in God alone; my salvation comes from him." David, the author of this text, believed that only God was the savior. Even though it was a difficult situation to handle, he quietly hoped and relied on God. The word 'hope' here is 'Tumiya' in the original language, and it means that you completely depend on God without making any moves on your own. It means relying only on God. David left everything to God without using human methods. He entrusted the matter of salvation. Whether we live or die, we are confident that God will solve it. Are you suffering from problems? Like David, look to God and cry out. Pray with the faith that God will surely deliver you in every situation. Don't depend on people, just rely on God and pray earnestly with tears. When you go forward with faith looking to the Lord, who is salvation, like David's confession, I hope that God will be your shield, glory, and lift your head.
Second, since you are my hope, we must look only to the Lord.
This is verse 5 of the text. "My soul, wait quietly for God alone, for my hope comes from him." David hopes for God and feels infinite peace. The word for hope here is 'kawa'. It means 'to look forward to, to look at, to wait patiently.' If hope begins with human need, hope begins with God's longing. Hope begins where man's worldly hope is cut off and grows brighter and brighter as long as he trusts in God. David was in trouble and darkness because of the rebellion of his son Absalom. Because what happened to my children, I had no place to complain and the hope of the world was cut off. So David confessed, "For my hope is from him," and he asks for hope in God. It means that only God has hope. If we have hope, we can overcome all the difficulties that have cut off hope in the world. Therefore, when there are difficulties in life, do not put your hope in the world, but put your hope in God.
Third, we must look only to the Lord, who is my glory.
Black American singer Marian Anderson (M. Anderson) is a world-famous singer. She has received honorary doctorates in 23 countries because of her singing as a genius singer. President Eisenhower sang the American national anthem at the inauguration of President Kennedy. In 1958, President Eisenhower even nominated her to the United Nations. In 1963, he was awarded the Presidential Freedom Award, the highest decoration of all, by President Johnson. The words she left at the time of her retirement, who had been honored as a vocalist for 40 years and moved many people, moved more than any other emotion she had left during that time. "I was a humble human being who could only be a slave, but God gave me a beautiful voice. That's what made me famous, not what I did. So now I give honor, praise and glory to God." Because she wanted to glorify God, God used her greatly throughout her life.
This is verse 7 of the text. David said, "My salvation and glory belong to God." Not only in the text, but in the psalms, David urges us to hope only for God and depend on God. David was courageous by relying on God every day. He confessed that entering and leaving was safe with God's hold on him. He said that he is not afraid even if ten million people try to surround him. This is because he lived an entirely God-centered life. Living God-centered is a life lived for the glory of God. When God created man, he created it for the glory of God. It was created to praise God, to please God. However, we did not live centered on God, but centered on the world, centered on material things, and centered on ourselves. I lived in love with the world. He lived in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. He was arrogant because he did not live centered on God, resulting in all things in vain. Therefore, we must restore God-centeredness. We must confess that God is the glory and live our lives.
We are people living in problems. We ourselves are a bunch of trouble. There is a yoke of pain. It's a body of disappointment and disappointment. Sick and wounded. They are poor, and they are anxious and anxious. There are business difficulties. There are problems with your children. There is a fear of death. Numerous spiritual problems are like a mountain. Just as a woman is pregnant but has no power to give birth, so we are wretched and incompetent in the face of problems. Therefore, we must look to God more. We must look at it because it is salvation. You have to look at it because it is a wish. You must look at it because it is an honor. And we must rely on it from time to time and pour out our hearts to God. This is God's heart toward us. In the name of the Lord, I pray in the name of the Lord that your way of life will be transformed into a God-centered life, and that you will become more blessed saints who look to God and experience miracles every day.
