Journey in the title (Gen. 36:1-43)
The content shows a much nicer personality than Jacob.
And as the ancestor of the Edomites, he was living his life enjoying the same position as a king.
He conquered and took possession of the supreme lands, and his life is not without a difficult record.
Blessings in 1.
Esau had a difficult pilgrimage.
There was no famine, no going down to Egypt, no 40 years of living in the wilderness, no anxiety during the time of the judges.
Esau, who was excluded from all this, had to celebrate and rejoice himself.
But Esau had no vision of God, no fellowship with Jehovah, no contact with angels.
While I was on the path of true solitude where I had to enjoy a life cut off from God, I was only satisfied with my physical condition.
2. Pleasure in
His life was dignified as a patriarch like a king, a line of subjects, a fertile land, and peace and comfort.
Long before the first king came to Israel, he was already a king.
He is like the worldly man depicted in the psalms. His portion was life in this life, and he was full of treasure.
However, Esau was never awake and satisfied with the image of God, nor did he enjoy the blessings of the ‘family of God.
3. His way of dealing
He was kind-hearted, good-natured, rejoicing, and loving to give.
Because the land was too small for Jacob and himself to dwell in, he left and settled at the foot of Mount Seir (Mal. 1:2-3).
Mal 01:02 I have loved you, says the LORD, but you say, How hast thou loved us? saith the LORD, Am I not Esau's brother? But I loved Jacob.
Mal 01:03 Esau hated and made his mountains desolate, and gave his inheritance to the wilderness of the wilderness.
Mal 01:04 Edom says, "We have been torn down, but we will rebuild the ruins." But I, the LORD of hosts, will build them, but I will tear them down. will be called the received people.
It was not difficult for him to leave the Promised Land.
Perhaps most of them preferred Esau over Jacob, but God did not.
The cool appearance of humanity is enough to buy us human affection.
However, God finally chose Jacob, who was lacking and treacherous, and led him.
is.
4. Why is this brother's fate different?
One lived for this world, and the other went on a pilgrimage to the city of God as a citizen of the heavenly city of Jerusalem.
One person is an ordinary person in this world, and the other person became a channel of God's grace toward mankind by God's choice.
‘Application’1). Why did God finally choose and use Jacob, who was more troublesome than Esau, who possessed a fresh human nature?
2). What was the biggest pitfall in Esau's life, who seemed to be unaware of suffering on the path of his carnal life?
3). What do you think is the purpose of life that a person should truly pursue when he comes to this earth?
