Let's Build a House on the Rock
Let's build a house on the rock (Matthew 7:24-29)
Jesus said that a person who built a house on a rock so that it would not fall in the flood was a wise person, and a person who built a house on sand and made it fall in the flood is a fool. Everything a person thinks and moves is the process of building a house. We are people who live in the flesh and build a house of the spirit, a house of eternity, a house where we live together with God, and a house where we can live victoriously and happily as God's children. I hope that you build your house of faith and the house of your soul with all sincerity while praying, singing, and meditating on the Word. This house is not only the house of faith in which you will live on this earth, but also the house of eternal heaven in which you will live in heaven.
Pastor Spurgeon interpreted the rain, floods, and winds in the text like this. ① 'Rain' refers to adversity that comes suddenly from the sky like a shower, sometimes like a drizzle, without getting wet (disease, business failure, accident, children's deviation, etc.) (Trials from work, neighbors and family, etc. because of believing in Jesus) ③ 'Wind' refers to the spiritual temptation of Satan. Satan is making the prayer life impossible, and religious skepticism has arisen, making the spiritual life of the saints difficult.
What is emphasized by the threefold expression of ‘the rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and crashed against the house’? ① Whether wise or foolish, there are always days of hardship in life. ② It is only when suffering comes that true faith and false faith are revealed. What are your beliefs? I pray that it will become a house built on a rock and that it will not collapse even in the midst of fiery adversity and hardship.
Another important fact is that once the storm hits, you don't have time to build a house again. Life is only once. Being a chaebol or a powerful person doesn't lead to life twice. Therefore, the house of life must be built well when it is built. A person who builds well wins no matter how difficult ordeal comes, but a person who builds poorly falls, falls, and perishes. It's no use regretting later. Just as how you use your “half-time” in athletics can turn the game around, the rest of your life depends on how you use your half-time now. We now have one last chance, the second half. I hope you build your house on the rock with good materials.
