Sermons for Preaching

Let's live happily always with a smile.

Let's laugh and live happily always.

Text: Genesis 21:1-7, Hymns: 550 chapters (old 248 chapters)

A research team at the Sales Research Center at Princeton University in the US tested the correlation between laughter and sales with 150 actors. When a salesperson smiled and sold a product, they sold 3 to 10 times the target amount. The expressionless salesperson sold 10 to 30% of the target, and the frown salesperson sold none. Laughter makes you and the other person happy.

Laughter is contagious. Joy is infected. These two are very good for our health. People who laugh actually live longer than people who don't laugh. Not many people know that health really depends on the amount of laughter.

“A happy heart is good medicine, but a troubled spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22)

This is an article titled “The Praise of Laughter” by Dale Carnegie, a master of human relations theory and success studies.

“You don't have to spend anything for a laugh, but you get a lot out of it. There is no harm to the giver of laughter, and much is gained to the receiver. Laughter is short-lived, but sometimes the memory lasts a lifetime. If you don't have a smile you're not really rich, and if you have a smile you're not poor Laughter adds happiness to your home, revitalizes your business, and brings you closer to your relationships. It is a rest to the weary, a hope to the discouraged, and a comfort to the weeping. The antidote to all poisons is laughter. But remember. Laughter is something that money cannot buy, that cannot be borrowed from anyone, and cannot be stolen from others.”

Those who have the hope of Christ should rejoice every day. Because the Lord has a wonderful plan for us in our lives. Remember that fact and always smile.

“You will show me the way of life; in Your presence is the fulness of joy, and at Your right hand are eternal joys” (Psalm 16:11).

Laughter acts as a lubricant that makes our lives happy. However, Koreans tend not to smile well. Laughter has the power to prevent and cure diseases in our souls and bodies. The phrase “a joy of the heart makes the face bright, but a sorrow of the heart bruises the soul” (Proverbs 15:13) explains this fact well. So, it is necessary to live with a smile even for health.

“Rejoice with him, all who love Jerusalem; rejoice with him, all who mourn for him; rejoice with him, all who mourn for him” (Isaiah 66:10).

The mirror doesn't smile first. Neither this world nor this universe nor our destiny laugh first. When I laugh first, the world also smiles. When I laugh first, the universe also smiles. When we laugh first, our destiny also smiles.

Because the world is not the subject, but I am the subject. Because the universe is not the subject, but I am the subject. Because fate is not the subject, but I am the subject.

We are subjects created in the image of God. That is why, when I laugh first, the world, the universe, and fate will also laugh. The 365 days of our New Year's life do not smile first. Only be filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and praising the Lord with our hearts, so that our 365 days of life may dance. A day without laughter is a wasted day. Those who live their lives worthwhile, worthwhile, and to the fullest are those who bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. One of the fruits of the Spirit is joy.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness” (Galatians 5:22).

One day, John Bunyan, who wrote 'The Pilgrim's Passion', happened to hear some grandmothers talking in the sun in the sun. The grandmothers were talking about how much God had given them grace with their faces full of joy. John Bunyan said that at that moment, his heart warmed, he fell on his face and prayed, and he had a certain experience of becoming a new person. It can be said that his great literature of faith originated from that joy. When we know God's grace and are in his joy, we will become God's great instruments.

“That my joy may be in you, that your joy may be full” (John 15:1).

Today's text is about Abraham and Sarah, the fathers of faith, having a son when they were 100 and 90 years old and laughing with joy, saying, "God makes me laugh, and all who know us will laugh together." This is where the word laughter is first used in the Bible, and this laughter is God-given laughter. Our God wants His children to smile and live in grace. Whenever the Abraham and his wife saw Isaac, they couldn't help but laugh with gratitude and joy. So they named their son Isaac, which means "God makes us laugh."

Originally, this world was full of laughter. In the Garden of Eden, what worries and sorrows, sorrows and sighs were there? But because of sin, instead of laughter, sorrow and lamentation came, and anxiety and fear arose. Therefore, we must restore laughter again in the Lord. The Bible tells us to “rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16). There is an old saying that laughter brings happiness. As we live joyfully in the Lord and have laughter, God's blessings will abound in our lives.

“At that time our mouths were full of laughter, and our tongues were full of praise. At that time it was said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them” (Psalm 126:2).

We Christians should always be full of laughter and joy. The joy of receiving the Lord and becoming a child of God, the joy of believing, following, confessing, and preaching the Lord, the joy of serving and obeying the Lord, the joy of participating in the remaining sufferings of the Lord, the joy of fulfilling the mission the Lord has entrusted to you, the Lord The joy of fulfilling the will of God, the joy of the family, the church, the business, the country, and the people that you have given me... . The smile of His grace in Jesus is the bright smile of joy that comes from our souls. The deeper your life of faith, the richer your spiritual joy will be.

No matter how stormy our lives are, and no matter what hardships we face, when we enjoy the joy of the gospel and the joy of salvation in the Lord, there is true peace. Chrysostom said, “To those who rejoice in the Lord, tribulation itself is a joy.” The joy that springs from perfect faith looking only at Jesus Christ is the true joy in the Lord that transcends circumstances. This joy is the joy of God's grace. Phillips Brooks said, “Let us rejoice! Because God has made us the best people and the happiest people. And because he has made us proclaimers of his truth.” We Christians must live with joy and laughter so that we can share this wonderful joy of salvation with others.

“Let each of us please our neighbor, for the good and for the edification” (Romans 15:2).

The kingdom of God that we must build and expand on this earth is a kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy.

“The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

Let's all try our best to live a happy life with a bright smile always.

* Prayer: The Lord has given us hope and laughter! Help me to live with a smile of joy always in God's grace today. May I be truly satisfied and rejoicing in You. May I start my day with a pleasant smile as I remember you. Help me to tell my neighbors that there is eternal joy when I am with you. We pray in the name of our Savior Jesus. Amen
