Let's receive the calling
Exodus 3:1-12
God calls people to do work in all ages. “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you may go and bear fruit, and that your fruit may abid, that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
In the text, it is recorded that God called Moses and led the nation of Israel to the land of Canaan. God appeared to Moses from among the bushes and called him and gave him a mission. This 40-year period was a period in which he received an education directly from God that was better than the higher education he had received in Egypt. Thus, when the physical energy of the past had completely disappeared and he had lost the courage to stand up on anything but faith in God, God called him. Looking at the process of calling Moses, first, it was the presence of God.
“The bush caught fire, but it did not go away. I will turn and see this great sight. Why does the bush not burn?” The purpose and intention of the miracle is to gather Moses' interest and give him a new experience.
John Wesley's conversion changed British society in the 17th century and laid the foundation for the great work of God that gave birth to the Methodist Church today. He earned a high academic degree at Oxford University, England, and was confident with his studies and the many experiences he had gained from the Shinsung Group Movement, so he left for the United States as a missionary. At first, I thought that a large audience would gather and succeed. However, the result was a complete failure, and I was forced to return to Korea without even raising my face.
Then, on May 24, 1738, at a prayer meeting on Aldersgate Street, he was completely changed when he heard Luther's exposition of Romans.
Second, Moses is called.
When God saw Moses turned to see, he called, “Moses, Moses.” Calling by name, and moreover, calling them repeatedly showed intimacy. He called Saul on the road to Damascus, and also called Abraham. This moment is an important moment when Moses receives his vocation.
“Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” It means that you must be washed away from your sins because God is there. We must throw away the world's filthiness, human means and methods, and the heart that believes in our own abilities, and reveal ourselves to God without adornment.
This is an act of showing respect and obedience, and it is a sign of never violating the order of the other person by adopting the attitude of a slave. In doing the Lord's work, we too must first serve the Lord and become a burning person, and in this attitude we must be used by the Lord.
Third, God gave the mission.
I revealed the God of your ancestors and gave them a mission. He saw the suffering of his people, heard their cry, and knew their anxieties and afflictions, and said that he would save them.
Then Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt? I will certainly be with you, said God, and this is the proof that I see you.”
We want to restore Wesley's missionary zeal, who called us to hear the voice of God speaking to us, to know who we are, and to call the world a parish. “Only by the power of the Holy Spirit”
