Let us be regarded as pillars (Galatians 2:9)
In the text we read today, we find the words ‘James and Cephas and John who are regarded as pillars’. Among the words ‘to regard as a pillar’, ‘here’ is the Greek word ‘docuntes’, which means ‘famous’. That is, James, Cephas, and John are famous like pillars. In fact, these three men were really important as pillars in early Christianity. Today's era demands a pillar-like figure. We are looking for a noble person who will do great work in the church, at work, and in the country, like a pillar who is unchangingly loyal, upright, and handsome. Then let's meditate on what kind of pillar we should be.
First, the pillar must be strong.
What must our saints do to become spiritually strong pillars? We must be armed with the Word of God so that Satan does not take advantage of us. Above all, we must be spiritually awake and pray.
Second, the pillar must be built on a rock.
Third, the pillar must stand in place in order to fulfill its role as a pillar.
What would happen if the pillars were not placed in a position to support the upper structure and were driven into one corner? Buildings are bound to collapse. So are the saints. You have to be where you need to be. If you leave your position, you will perish. I hope that you will be saints who keep my place
Fourth, the column must also be stylish. It must be beautiful.
Looking at the ancient medieval buildings, you can't tell how beautiful they are. I can't tell you how wonderful it is when you look at that particularly magnificent pillar. Saints should be nice too. If you look at the columns before the construction is completed, the reinforcing bars are jagged. Even sharp stones are unpolished. In order to complete the building, you must first remove the obsolete things from the columns. need to be trimmed. So it's safe. It looks great. Otherwise, it would look ugly, but people would get hurt. The same goes for us believers. You don't know how many problems you cause if you become a pillar and a worker in the church without changing your personality. We must remember that if we don't refine our inner being, we won't be able to serve as a nice pillar. If you want to be a good pillar, you must first do self-reflection. You must repent. You must refine your character. You must be transformed by the Holy Spirit. We must bear the fruit of the Spirit. In particular, we must bear the fruit of love and gentleness.
I will arrange the words. I hope that all of you will become strong pillars equipped with spiritual power through prayer and the Word, so that you will become loyal pillars who can stand in your place and bear your burdens silently. I also hope that it will become a wonderful pillar for practicing a life of forgiveness and love. I pray in the name of the Lord that you will bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit and become a wonderful pillar that is praised.
