One subject matters / Luke 15:3-7
Content I. Because the owner has “value” (3-4)
If one of a hundred sheep is lost, the owner will do everything in his power to find it. Because even one of them is precious. Today, in terms of quantity or pragmatism, one sheep is insignificant compared to ninety-nine.
However, in terms of the value of life, not economic value, a lost sheep is equally valuable. Because the value of life is not in numbers, but in life itself.
Because one life is more precious than the whole world.
II. Because the master's "love" is individual (4)
A flock of ninety-nine is not a problem, one is important. Moreover, it is a bigger problem for the owner if one of them is lost and is in a lonely, painful and difficult situation.
The owner has a keen interest and love for all one hundred sheep. That's why we set out to find the one lost sheep. True love is so individual. Even in a group, a special love for the individual is important.
The farther the lost sheep is from its owner, the more affectionate and earnest the owner's heart for that one.
Ⅲ. Because it restores the owner's "pleasure" (5-7)
When the owner found a sheep that had been lost due to hardship, he rejoiced and carried it back on his shoulder. And when we come home, we call our friends and neighbors together, and we have fun together, and he says, “I have found my lost sheep.” If the owner was a calculating person, he wouldn't do this.
But for the owner, money is not an issue. Calculations are not the problem.
It's nice and happy to have found what was lost. We want to share that joy and joy. It is because through one sheep he has gained so much joy that he cannot bear to share it.
