Title/ Until you get what you're looking for
Text/ 2 Kings 2:1-11
Before Elijah, the man of power, ascended to heaven, the prophet who was given twice as much power as he had, let's look at Elisha's persistence and share his grace.
The secret to gaining power / Pay attention to the person with the ability
1) Follow to the end, verses 2, 4, 6, you stay here > I will not leave you.
Verses 13 and 14, “He picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah’s body... and he also struck the water, and the water split to and fro, and Elisha crossed over.”
2) Those who stood and looked only / Verse 7 The fifty prophets also looked at them from afar.
Verse 15 says, “The inspiration of Elijah rested upon Elisha.”
“You must follow the word of God thoroughly.”
1, You must go out of Gilgal. (Verse 1) Steps of Exodus
(Joshua 5:9) “Then the LORD said to Joshua, I bring you the shame of Egypt today.
Because he said, “Let them roll away,” the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.”
The first step in the life of faith begins with making the world look shameful.
2, You must go up to Bethel. (Verse 2) Stages of Church Life
(Genesis 35:1-3) “When we got up and went up to Bethel, he answered me in the day of my trouble,
I am going to build an altar there to God who was with me on the way.”
Faith grows in the house of God.
The life of a believer is to learn how to pray, worship, praise, dedicate, and pray through church life, grow to the measure of Jesus Christ, and live as the light and salt of the world.
3, You must pass through Jericho. (Verse 4) The step of breaking down the walls within me
(Joshua 6:20) “Then the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets, and the people heard the sound of the trumpets.
At the same time, they shouted loudly, and the wall fell down.”
Break down obstacles that we cannot solve on our own through God's help
(Psalm 127:1) “The LORD does not build the house, and those who build it labor in vain; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps watch in vain.”
4, you must cross the Jordan. (Verse 8) Jordan is the stage of practicing faith
(Deuteronomy 11:31) “You will cross the Jordan to enter and acquire the land the LORD your God is giving you, and you must obtain it and live there.”
Achieving your goals requires a clear line with the world.
The Jordan is the limit line we must cross.
Verse 9 “Ask what I should do with you” *************************************
1) The Jordan cannot be crossed without faith. (Joshua 3:14-17)
2) In Jordan, if you follow the Word, miracles will happen. (2 Kings 5:14) Naaman's leprosy
3) The place where Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:16-17) The heavens opened, the Holy Spirit came, and God Himself acknowledged it and crossed the Jordan to reach the kingdom of praise. (Deuteronomy 31:1) "Moses did not cross the Jordan"
As Elijah was raised, we will meet across the Jordan River.
