people together. (Acts 15:36-16:5)
After the general assembly in Jerusalem, Barnabas and Paul, who had been teaching and staying at the Antioch Church for a while, were now planning their second missionary trip and had a big fight while choosing who to go with.
Previously, while reading the text and listening to the sermon, I did not feel the depth of the conflict between Paul and Barnabas. Even people who are so spiritually talented can fight and break up with each other.
However, God used even this human weakness for good, widening the path of evangelism, and I knew that this was one of God's methods and that even a good person could expose a side of a human being with weaknesses.
However, as I meditate on how Paul and Barnabas must have felt at that time, I feel their anguish and pain is transmitted to my heart. (They are like comrades who lived life and death!)
We still vividly remember the event that touched everyone's heart during a mission trip to Afghanistan not long ago. What if one of them now goes there again for missionary work?
Now, Paul and Barnabas are re-planning their missionary trip, risking their deaths.
They must have been full of uncontrollable passion and loyalty to their mission to share the gospel.
Paul, who always wanted to devise a militant and strategic plan with the feelings of a debtor to the Gentiles in his heart, and Barnabas, who was gentle and had great spiritual insight, seem like a fantastic pair that complements each other (I think).
I wonder if Paul can be compared to a field commander and Barnabas to a personnel officer.
Previously, when Saul was converted, Barnabas was the person who had already foreseen his future and put Paul on the stage in Jerusalem, although all Christians were still afraid of him.
He was so insightful, and he chose Mark today. However, it seems that Mark was still in the stage of young faith. This was the source of their quarrel.
Now that I think about it, I think that Barnabas's judgment was an appropriate choice that predicted the future. Because Mark became a great biblical figure to the point of writing the Gospel of Mark, the second book of the New Testament.
However, Mark, who went home after being with Paul who was prepared for evangelism every moment on the mission of evangelism risking his life, was not a person he could be with. For those who are ready to die, perhaps personal reasons are just a luxury. He needed a loyal disciple. Here we meet the prepared character Timothy. Maybe Sila was a substitute, I don't know.
Timothy's character is said to be timid and loyal. He was brought to faith by Paul
Paul circumcised him, and through the exhortation of faith, we see that he is set up as a man of great faith.
We see that great men in history, transcending time and place, had colleagues, friends, subordinates, and disciples who could rival them. Through today's sermon, even though the situation was so serious that at first, we had a serious fight with our closest friends, in the end, the expanded ministry of evangelism and the birth of a man of faith gave us a terrifying realization of God's sovereignty.
The various problems they would have prayed for as they prepared for the mission seemed to have taken place at that moment, so there was anguish in their hearts, but in the end, it was proved that it was the most appropriate method for each of them.
People who are with us who are determined to become disciples of the Lord are really precious,
I think that meeting will achieve the most proper result as the Lord has already prepared. i'm close now
Are teachers like Paul and Barnabas and co-workers in the faith like Mark and Timothy? -
will look back.
I envy the 12 disciples of Jesus infinitely, but if I had been called like that in those days,
Could he have become such a disciple?
There were times when I questioned and was not confident.
So, what about in our Jesus Village Church today?
Can we become disciples of the Lord together and carry out the mission of evangelism with a passionate mission like them on that day? before these advice
My weak and shaky figure is only disappointing.
The ongoing discipleship training is very encouraging.
That at this age I can no longer hide from the eyes of God,
The trainees who are with you and everyone who prays are watching you,
So today, I pray with all my heart in my heart to not be shaken again and to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Even if the appearance of me now is the image of Mark who was immature and wanted to run away, which Paul hated.
With the love and prayer of the church with Barnabas
I pray that God's sovereign change will take place.
All who are with us in the faith of our Lord
I pray that you will enjoy these changes and the filling of the Holy Spirit.
