On a Saturday evening TV show, I saw a mother saying these things to her child. “I want my baby to be someone who can be used wherever he goes...”
In the same way, we believe that our children should also be people who are used wherever we go and what we do, so that they are useful and needed there.
In today's text, we see that Jesus calls 12 disciples and raises up 70 disciples with a special purpose again.
My personal earnest wish is - If God selects 70 churches for special use among the 50,000 churches on this earth, I hope that our church will be one of them, and there are many people who believe in Jesus. If the Lord calls me to use it, I hope that you and I will be elected.-
The Lord sets up people for His special work like this, so what must we do to participate in the glory and grace of being set apart by the Lord to be used?
1. Be a forward-thinking person.
Verse 1 says, “After that, the Lord appointed seventy men by himself, and sent them out two by two ahead of them to each town and region where he was going to go ” . Those who look back and cling to the past cannot be used by the Lord (Luke 9:62).
Our country is called the molding kingdom. A lot of people are getting plastic surgery. The reason for having plastic surgery like this is that you end up getting plastic surgery because you keep looking back and getting entangled in the face you have already decided on. It is difficult for such a person to develop himself because he is caught up in the past and does not see his future and his inner self.
Choi Yoon-hee, who is touching many people as a ‘happiness evangelist’, said this in her book 『Reverse Your Life』. “- Decorate the inside, not the outside. I open my eyes wide with love, raise my nose with my skills... That's the way I live to be rich all my life..."
That's right. The people that the Lord has set aside are those who are not tied to the past or pre-determined, but are going forward, looking ahead, examining their inner person, changing and cultivating them.
2. You must become a person who shows the Lord.
A person set apart by the Lord is a person who reveals and shows Himself in the place He is sending. Let's look at verse 1 again. “…The Lord sends them two by two ahead of you to each town and region you are going to go to ” The Lord is sending those whom He has set aside first where He wants to go. The reason is that the Lord is going now, so go ahead there and prepare the way for the Lord to come by revealing and showing Him.
You and I have been sent by the Lord to the place we are today. They were sent to the family as fathers, mothers, and children. The reason for sending is to show the Lord who sent me in our given life. Through love, devotion, faith, and perseverance... Seeing heaven and seeing hell. When we remember that our true religious life should be done outside the church, not inside the church, through the image of the Lord we show in our homes, workplaces, and lives, there will be grace for my family, neighbors, and co-workers to return to the Lord. I believe in giving
3. A person who is ahead has two characteristics.
The person the Lord sets apart is said to be a leader, but such a person has two characteristics.
First, you know you have a lot of work to do.
Let's look at verse 2. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few; therefore, ask the master of the harvest, and send out workers to the harvest.” A forward-looking person is someone who thinks and says that I still have a lot to do in my life. He is a person who always says that I have a lot of work to do, and runs while praying and trying to improve his life.
Listening to the consistent stories of those who survived the 'Nazi concentration camp' in Germany, the only secret that they were able to survive in that hellish environment was not because they were better nourished, healthier, or more intelligent than others. That is, he was a man with a clear reason and purpose to live, saying, 'I still have a lot of work to do'.
We too have a lot of work to do for the rest of our lives. There is also much work to be done in the church you serve. I believe that God will protect those who go out in search of work while shouting that they have a lot to do before God and will give them the grace to make them do the work.
Second, there is a worker consciousness.
Looking at verse 2 again, “…the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few…” There are many things to be done, but there are no workers worthy of it. It is said that there are no workers both socially and nationally. It does not mean that there are no people, but that there are no trained and dedicated workers. Therefore, many dedicated workers are needed in all fields. Our church situation is no exception. Because “the life of faith is not confirmation, but devotion-”, in the fulfillment of the Lord’s work, “Send me to a place where there is much work to be done, and I am a worker” (Isaiah 6:8). I believe that you will find him and that you will accomplish your marvelous will through him. Hallelujah!!
Dear saints, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will have the grace to be used with great value by God in this age by knowing that we have a lot to do and going ahead and becoming a worker who shows the Lord in our place of life.
