Preach as you go / Matthew 10:5-15
Contents What Jesus did while he was on earth can be summarized into three main things.
It was teaching the disciples, healing the sick, and preaching the gospel.
However, the ultimate purpose of teaching the disciples and healing the sick was to preach the gospel.
Countless Bible study and discipleship movements are taking place in Korea right now. However, in a nutshell, Bible study or discipleship training without evangelism is meaningless.
In every city, hospitals with Christian names have been built. Originally, when the missionaries built the hospital, the spirit was to heal the poor and the poor and to preach the gospel to them. However, if those hospitals stop evangelism and continue to provide medical services, they will have to close their doors or change their names.
The Lord constantly trained the twelve disciples. And he sent them to the field of evangelism.
This text is the message that He instructed the twelve disciples to send to the evangelism field. That request becomes the principle of evangelism for us today.
1. He told them to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Israel is the blood of Jesus. But they persecuted Jesus and did not acknowledge him. Nevertheless, Jesus' interest did not leave Israel. The reason is that they are kin.
That is why the last missionary command he gave as he ascended to heaven begins with Jerusalem first.
Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria to the ends of the earth.”
It is to evangelize from the closest geographically and the closest family in relation to each other.
It is something we always feel while evangelizing, but it is a well-known fact that my family is the most difficult, and the people closest to me are the most difficult.
But what is clear is that you should not give up just because it is difficult.
For example, let's say your husband has an incurable disease. No one gives up treatment from the moment they are diagnosed with an incurable disease. We try our best to find a treatment method by re-diagnosing it twice or three times. But what is surprising is that there is no response to the problem of soul dying.
Right now, people around the world are in a state of extreme tension because of an unidentified bacteria. The fear of a monstrous bacterium that eats up all the flesh of a person and kills them in 24 hours is spreading.
But there are even more terrifying bacteria out there. Bacteria that destroy the human soul and body, its name [Sin bacteria].
These bacteria cause the soul, the mind, and the body to rot. The vaccine that fights and heals this sinful bacteria is the cross of Jesus Christ. The vaccine is the cross of Jesus Christ. Through the merits of the blood shed on the cross, sins are forgiven and I become a new person.
The Lord says
“Go to your family and your relatives,” he said, “and rescue them.”
It is said that a housewife prayed that she would believe in Jesus by drawing a cross every time she scooped rice with a spatula.
It is said that a housewife took her husband's shoes every morning and prayed for him to believe in Jesus, the owner of the shoes.
It is said that a housewife prayed for the salvation of her husband while fasting for six months in the morning.
It is said that a housewife scratched her husband's itchy back because of dry dermatosis, drew a cross and prayed.
The lost sheep of the house of Israel! We must pray and save for those closest to us.
2. He told me to preach as I go.
There are many differences between Christianity and Buddhism, but one of them is that Christianity is a religion that spreads while traveling, whereas Buddhism is a religion that spreads while staying in one place.
So Christianity went into the streets and Buddhism into the mountains. But these days, for some reason, Buddhism is more established than Christianity and is running out into the streets. Christianity must be preached on the go. In other words, we must breathe the history and walk the world to preach the gospel to that world.
The Lord commanded the disciples to “go”. Matthew 10:16 says, “I am sending you out as sheep among wolves.”
The Lord is sending us today. We must not only preach the Way to those who come to us like a monk who enters the mountains, but as we go, we must visit and create opportunities to spread the Gospel.
Let's go find it. let's get it done Let's create opportunities.
And the meaning of preaching as you go is not to stop.
Don't just finish it once or twice, keep doing it.
Let's spread as we go.
3. He told me to practice my powers.
Verse 8 says, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons; freely you received, freely.”
We find two things in this verse.
The first is that he gives power to the evangelist.
I am not a doctor, how can I heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and cast out demons?
The Lord had promised the disciples the power to heal and expel them by foretelling the situations they would face while evangelizing.
Second, evangelism is a battle.
He said, “I cast out demons,” but demons are never easily cast out. Ghosts are dirty, evil, evil beings. Ghosts are saboteurs, saboteurs. Demons are good at alienation and break peace. The way to cast out that demon is to receive a power stronger than the devil, and that power is the power of Jesus.
Evangelism is a battle that takes away the territory occupied by demons, so you must receive power to win.
It seems to me that in the end times Satan is using nuclear weapons, AIDS, bacteria, etc. as tools to threaten humanity.
When we receive power, we must fulfill our responsibilities to fix what we want to fix, to stop what to stop, and to cast out what we want to drive out.
Lord give me strength.
4. I told you not to worry.
In verses 9-10, we read, “Do not take gold, silver, or copper in your purse, and do not take pockets, two coats, sandals, or staffs for the journey.” The meaning of these words is not to worry about the incidental things other than evangelism.
Those who start evangelism have a lot of worries.
Will evangelism happen? Will he listen to me? Will you come with me that day? If that person believes in Jesus, what will happen to the problem of eating? How should I behave? There are more concerns than evangelism itself. I mean don't worry about that.
At that time, the disciples went out naked like people on a radio trip. The reason was not because they were going on a tour, but because the Lord would provide them.
In our case, we are not going on a missionary trip. However, we are the people who have started evangelism, are doing it, and should do it. Let's not worry. The Lord will give you strength and walk with you. In Matthew 28:20, the Lord said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
5. I asked you to pray for peace.
Verse 12 says, “Pray for peace as you enter the house.” Verse 13 says, “If the house is worthy of it, your empty peace will come there; if it is not worthy, it will return to you.” I did.
This verse means that when you enter a house during your missionary journey, you first ask for peace.
And the act of praying for peace is absolutely necessary for us today.
Here's why:
This is because the first evangelism is to spread the gospel of peace.
When the gospel of Jesus Christ enters, peace is established both personally and in the family. You will find true peace of mind.
Second, we must preach the gospel with a peaceful heart and attitude.
You must not quarrel, wrestle, or hurt your heart with the person to whom you have decided to pray. We must give up everything except believing in Jesus and retreat.
People who treat mentally ill people with counseling never yell or hit their desks. To make the patient's psychological state comfortable and stable, his speech and attitude must be soft and stable.
The attitude of the evangelist must also be peaceful. You should not let out a sigh while believing in Jesus and go to heaven, or tell them to sell out.
The gospel of Jesus is the gospel of peace. That's why Paul said in Ephesians 6:15, "put on your sandals with the preparations of the gospel of peace."
6. He told us to be wise and pure.
Without wisdom, you will only lose money, and without chastity, you will be pointed at.
Evangelism is important in life. There is evangelism by writing with your fingers. It's called document evangelism. There is conduction through the mouth. It is called personal evangelism. There is evangelism through the feet. It is called visiting evangelism. There is evangelism through the whole body. It is called personality evangelism, life evangelism.
The evangelism we must do is evangelism with our whole body. And it must be evangelism that goes on and on.
This week is a very important week.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1) We must keep praying.
2) You must do your best to manage your own health and emotions.
3) Avoid quarrels or conflicts.
4) Next week, you must adapt yourself to the time and circumstances of the evangelist.
5) Don't decide on just one person as the target. One reason is that the probability of failure is high.
① Let's set a good example.
② Let's do good.
③ Let's keep praying for him.
④ Let's keep nurtured.
Preach as you go
The Lord commands us.
“Preach as you go,” he said.
Let's preach
Just do it.
I do.
Amen
