Bible: Joel 2:18-20
The words up to Joel 2:17 are words that earnestly appeal to Israel to restore the lost grace and to live up to their duty and position as God's children. When the trumpet is blown in Zion, the people immediately declare a fast and confiscated and gather in a holy assembly to restore a life of repentance before God with tears. God gives fervent love to those who repent, gives them abundance from calamity, and peace from their enemies.
First: He loves you passionately from the heart.
“At that time the LORD will be zealous for his land, and have compassion on his people” (verse 18). Considering the past and present of Israel, most of them neglected to gather for the holy meeting for this reason, and it was not enough to live as a faithful people of promise. But when we come to God, weep and mourn, tear our hearts, and humble ourselves before God, He tells us that He will turn away wrath and calamity and show us love with a passionate heart.
second ; Don't let me be put to shame
In the words of “I will never again cause you to be reproached among the nations” (verse 19b), God declared that three times, 'I will not let you be reproached among the nations', God can't let it go any longer. You can see the meaning of (Verses 20, 26, 27) What parent would rejoice that their children live in a world that is despised? However, today's Israel is no different from the image of a weak Samson turning a millstone in place of an animal while pointing his finger in front of a large number of idol worshipers at the Philistine Temple of Dagon. The people who have lost the power and grace of God are inevitably helpless beings unable to exercise any power.
Third: Satisfy.
“The Lord answered them, saying, I will give you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be satisfied” (verse 19a). I will anoint you with grain and new wine and oil.” All of these things were previously lost by leaving God, but now, when they come to God, they are filled with abundance. Adam, who had lived in abundance in the Garden of Eden in the past, had no choice but to live in a dry land full of thorns and thistles when he lived apart from God's will. But now, when we come to Jesus, our lives will overflow with abundance just as the Garden of Eden is restored.
