The 4 virtues required of a title leader
2 Kings (52) Four virtues necessary for a leader (2 Kings 22:1-11)
1. Don't be biased
Josiah became king at the age of 8 and reigned for 31 years. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David, and did not turn to the right or left (verses 1-2). The most outstanding aspect of Josiah's honesty in David's way was that he did not lean left or right. As such, a leader must have a balance that does not lean left or right. And if you expand on the word not to lean left and right, you can say that you don't lean up and down, and you say that you don't lean back and forth. Leaders must combine the prudence of looking at reality with the courage to live the vision.
When God gave us two eyes, it means to look at the left as well as the right, giving us two ears means to listen to the left and right views, and to give us two arms means to hold on to the left and the right. , giving you two feet means that you must keep your left and right balance well and move forward well. A good leader is a person who creates a blessed community through a life of harmony with a balanced thinking without being stubborn at the extreme.
2. You must love God
King Josiah is famous for his Reformation, which began when the king sent Shaphan the scribe to the temple (verse 3). Then King Josiah sent Shaphan the scribe to the temple to repair the broken parts of the temple with the temple offerings (verses 4-6). King Josiah's offering to repair the temple was a sign of his love for God, the King of kings. As such, a leader must love a leader higher than himself, and above all, love God, the highest being.
There are people who are very good at their superiors, but those who are inferior to them are like a servant. He is a person with an abusive constitution. On the other hand, there are people who are very good to their subordinates, but ignore the superiors. He is a person with a popular personality. A true leader should strive to respect and lead if the subordinate does not go the wrong way, and if the superior does not go the wrong way, he should strive to respect and follow it. If you love your superiors with a pure heart and love God above all else, God will elevate you to a higher position.
3. You must trust your subordinates
When Josiah entrusted the silver to the overseers for the repair of the temple, he told them not to account for the silver that was in their hands, because they acted in truth (verse 7). One characteristic of a person who believes in God wisely and well is that he trusts people wisely and well. A person who completely entrusts himself to God is also good at entrusting his work completely to others. There is a high possibility that a person will turn into a trustworthy person when he or she has to believe in it. Because Jesus believed in his disciples to the end, he was able to return from the position of betrayal and progress to the stage of martyrdom.
Even if you are betrayed in your life, don't be a traitor. Also, even if you have experienced many difficulties while trusting people, do not lose your attitude to trust people. Of course, don't blindly believe everything. In particular, don't believe any promises that promise you a lot of money. However, try to trust the weak and don't lose your hope for change. Those who try to trust others in this way eventually become reliable people, and furthermore, they become good leaders by gaining trustworthy people.
4. Must have open ears
When the temple was being repaired, Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in the temple of the Lord” and gave it to Shaphan, who read it (verse 8). The book of the law is presumed to be the Pentateuch. At that time, the Book of the Law was kept next to the Ark of the Covenant and was read by the priests when needed (Deuteronomy 31:12,26). .
After Shaphan the scribe went back to the king and reported that the king's servants had put the temple offerings in the hands of the temple overseer, Hilkiah the priest read the book of the law to the king, found while repairing the temple (verses 9-10). Immediately the king tore his clothes (verse 11). Shaphan must have read to the king the part of the Book of the Law that called for repentance for turning away from God. Hearing these words, King Josiah tore his clothes with mourning. As such, a leader must have an open ear, especially to the Word.
Not all ears are good. Because there are many false sounds of pollution level. We open our ears to false sounds and close our ears to true sounds. So the ears should be open, but not the thin ones. How can you have open ears but not thin ones? We must open our ears to the Bible and the right words based on the Bible. If you open your ears to the good word, the door of miracles will open, and the door of blessings of becoming a person and a leader will also open wide.
