The content is near/Phil 4:8-9
Key Verse: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are reverent, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are commendable, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, consider these things” (8 section)
Word: Paul speaks to the saints in Philippi like this. “Brothers and sisters, if anything is true, if anything is godly, if anything is right, if anything is pure, if anything is lovely, if anything is honorable, if anything is virtuous or praiseworthy, consider all these things. And you put into practice what you have learned from me and what you have received and what you have heard and seen.”
We need to think deeply about our style of life. Is this really true, is it really godly and just, is it pure, is it lovely, is it worthy of the Lord's name, is it virtuous? You must be able to judge not by your own logic, but by God's values. This is not for anyone. It is for you who live as children of the Lord. It is said that words (言) kill people. This means that words can even save lives. This is not about paying off a thousand nyang debts by speaking well. A warm and sincere word gives comfort to a person who has given up on life so that he can start a new life. These words can be achieved by controlling your heart.
Remember the proverb, "He who rules his heart is better than the mighty." To control your heart is to experience the presence of God. It is acknowledging that the invisible Holy Spirit is with me in my life. Even if I am in a dark place where I can't see anything, even if no one sees me, it is to acknowledge that the God who is with us in our lives is also there.
It is not in heaven where we can live God's love and His commands. It's not across the sea. It's close to us. There, by controlling our hearts and mouths, we can live abundantly as children of God. Now let's practice. As children of God, let's live the way He wants us to live. That is our life as we ought to live.
Prayer: Dear God, please teach me what kind of life you truly want. Teach me what is true, what is godliness, and what is right. Let us live the life the Lord wants us to live. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
