Hebrews 11:40 It becomes better.
A 40-year-old man at a sawmill worked diligently, feeling rewarding in his own work. But then the lightning struck. I got a notice of dismissal from my boss. It was a layoff. His job was the only source of money that was absolutely necessary for their family's livelihood. When I got fired from that job, I felt a sense of frustration as if the sky was about to fall. “How am I going to live now?” I let out a sigh of mourning along with the worry.
For a time he was overcome with hopelessness, frustration, anguish, and anger. And after thinking for a while, I got a mortgage on my house and started construction. At first, my wife jumped up and objected. And the construction industry was about building two small structures. The building business he started with made him a million-dollar man five years later. Who is this person? It was Willis Johnson, who built the Holiday Inn Hotel.
When he was fired from his job, he hated the sawmill owner. He was so resentful. To him he said, "Hey bastard! Can you do that to me? How will my family live in the future?" And I wanted to hold you by the neck. But now it's time to say thank you when you meet him. It was so cute that I wanted to hug her and buy her some food. Of course, at the time I was fired, I didn't know why I had to be fired. However, I realized that the pain at that time was God's wonderful plan. God has a plan to make it better.
Numerous stories in the Bible support this truth. Today's Bible text also says this. “For God has prepared a better thing for us, so that, except for us, they should not be made perfect.” To make the interpretation easier, let's say it in the translation of the 'Modern Bible' “God has told us to wait to give them something better than that” (Hebrews 11:40).
The father of Israel is Abraham. God miraculously gave Abraham a son when he was 100 years old. But when his son Isaac was a grown boy, God suddenly commanded him to offer his precious only son Isaac as a burnt offering. When I first heard those words, I thought, “Does God really love me? Are you really the one who blesses me?” They could doubt the goodness of God or disobey God.
However, as the father of faith, he believed and obeyed the goodness of God. Then God prepared a sheep instead of Isaac, the only one, and had it offered as a burnt offering, and blessed him like this. “As I swear by myself, because you have done this and did not spare your son and your only son, I will bless you and make your offspring great, like the stars in the sky, and like the sand on the seashore, and your descendants will gain the gates of their enemies. ." (Genesis 22:16-18)
Everyone, do you believe in God, but sometimes events or problems that you do not understand arise? Don't be too discouraged or worried. Never give up or betray your belief that you will not believe in God. In due time, God will make all those things better. If you believe, let's say Amen. We also experienced a lot of God who makes things better for us here.
When our church was first planted here in Calgary 13 years ago, there was no temple, so we held worship services in a room at an English academy downtown. Just in time for Halloween, the temporary pulpit was decorated with bats, spider webs, and ghosts. We asked the owner if we were going to worship, but these things were in front of us, so we could clean them up. But the owners say they shouldn't put it away. There was the inconvenience and regret of having to worship in front of demonic images.
And since it's downtown, parking wasn't difficult. Eventually, we had to relocate. Although it is gone now, worship was held at a place called 'Gaya Sikdang' at the time. However, since it was a restaurant that was also open for business, if there were customers during the service, the service had to be delayed. And the atmosphere of worship was distracted by the smell of cooked food in the restaurant.
After experiencing such inconvenience, I decided in my heart that I had to prepare a temple as soon as possible. If it hadn't been for such inconvenience, I would say, "I love this place!" I would not have had the heart to buy a temple while I was doing it. He wouldn't even have prayed for a temple. In other words, discomfort became an opportunity to move toward convenience. God sometimes makes us uncomfortable.
However, that discomfort later becomes even greater peace. The Bible speaks of this fact: "I know the thoughts I have toward you, saith the LORD, not evil, but peace, to give you hope for your future" (Jeremiah 29:11). He said that it is thought only as punishment, but in reality it is not a disaster, but peace, and a hope for the future.
Often times, we are faced with hardships that we do not understand. In such a case, there are times when we doubt the very existence of God rather than the love of God. But trust God a little more. Eventually you will realize. Our God is a good God. He is the one who makes everything good. Jesus says. “Who among you will give your son a stone if he asks for bread, or a snake if he asks for a fish? Will you not?" (Matthew 7:9-11).
Folks, our God is a good God. In English, it means "God is so good." A good God makes even bad things into good things in the end. After all, because of the inconvenience of the temple, we always prayed to God. The title of the united prayer at that time was "Lord, give me a beautiful temple!"
When our church had 20 people including children at that time, we prayed for a small temple used by the old Bethel Presbyterian Church. That church was built before our church, and we had to move the temple to a larger place because of the more members than us. The temple of that church could be bought for about 100,000 dollars at the time. But they did not want to move the temple immediately.
And a few days later, the good news came. It was decided that all the executive committee members would unanimously sell the church building to us. I don't know how good it was back then. But a few days later, I got a call back. There was an elderly couple attending the church, and they objected that the temple they had attended since childhood could never be sold, so they would not sell it.
You don't know how disappointed I was to hear this news. Our operation in Jericho ended in total failure due to an unexpected reef. It was when I was so discouraged. I saw a beautiful temple in the Killerney area of Southwest Calgary. The twin buildings were built of sandstone and were truly beautiful. I rented a car and went to that church. One day, I inadvertently asked the butler next to me. "Deacon, how much does this church building cost?"
Hearing my words, the head of the headquarters responded very kindly. Among the temples of our Anglican church, we are planning to sell the temple, and we are buying the temple. "How much do you do?" "Would you like 300,000 dollars?" I was surprised. "Isn't it worth a try for 300,000 dollars?" However, when I gave the appraised value, it came out to be over 600,000 dollars, if not a million. Now, 600,000 dollars is the price of a good house, but at that time, a good house was 200,000 dollars, so it was quite an amount for us to purchase.
But in the end, after many twists and turns, he miraculously bought the temple. This is a beautiful temple building with a gym that we use now. At the time, I was discouraged by the failure of the temple sale of the Bethel Presbyterian Church and the failure of the sale of the temple rented by the Methodist Church, but looking back, God gave me a better temple. If I had bought the Bethel Presbyterian Church building or the First Methodist Church rental building at that time, I would have to move because there were more members later.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are discouraged by our immediate failure. I am suffering from the immediate discomfort. I am perplexed by the current problem. But see you later. Its failure, its pain, and its divisions also serve as a better result. No, it's a shame because it failed then, then failed, and then there was a problem.
Virgin bachelors, have you ever been troubled by breaking up with your lover? It sounds like you are crying in pain now, but please wait a little longer. The breakup at that time may have made it better for you. Have you been weeping in secret and lonely tears because of the current ordeal? Do you sometimes want to die? Please wait a little longer. Your sorrow will turn into joy. Sighs and tears will change into laughter and happiness. Because God's work of making things better is happening.
Everyone, believe in the goodness of God. Be sure to believe that you are a God who makes things better. Believe like a child that God is not a dead God, He is alive and is working to make things better for you. And make some impressions on your face. An angel of God came to us to bring the good news to us, and when he saw our impressions on us, he said, "Oh, it doesn't seem here. and don't go back. Conclusion. Our God is the one who makes things better. Therefore, I pray that you will make an impression and live in hope in your father's house.
