I will rebuild it!
John 2:13-22 10-02-28
Buil Church Sunday Daytime Worship Sermon
(Introduction)
Whether you are building a large or small building, you must have a blueprint. God himself designed and designed the heavens and the earth when he built the ark, when he built the tabernacle, and when he built the church.
Creation of heaven and earth [Genesis 1:1-30]
“1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, 2: the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved on the waters 3: God said, Let there be light, and there was light 4: that light was the And God saw that it was good, and God divided the light from the darkness, 5: And the light he called Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.”
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
●Noah's Ark [Genesis 6:14-22]
14: "You shall build for yourself an ark of cypress wood, and seal the livers in it, and paint it with bitumen on the inside and outside. 22: And Noah did the same thing, but he did all that God commanded him.”
Tabernacle [Ex 25:8-9/ 40:16,19,21,23,25,27,29,32,33]
“8: I made them a sanctuary for them to dwell among them, 9: I shall build them according to the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of its utensils, as I show you. did it”
The temple [1 Kings 6:38 / 1 Kings 9]
“38: In the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, that is, in the month of August, the temple was completed according to its design and style, and Solomon built the temple seven years.”
- At the dedication of the temple, God appears to Solomon and makes a promise.
(Main subject)
1. In the Old Testament, which temple was designed and designed by God?
1 When Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and had finished all that he had set out to accomplish, 2: the LORD appeared to Solomon again, as he had previously appeared in Gibeon, 3: he said to him, "You pray and make supplications before me. I have heard that I will consecrate this house that you have built, and I will put my name in it forever, and my eyes and my heart will always be there. 4: If you will make your heart complete and upright before me, as your father David did. 5 If you obey all I have commanded you and keep my laws and ordinances, 5: I will establish your throne over Israel forever, just as I said to your father David, ‘No one will be cut off from you who will rise above Israel.
-What temple was designed by God?
1. The temple is a holy place.
2. The temple is where God's name is placed.
3. The temple is where God meets His people.
4. The temple is where God teaches His people what to do.
5. The temple is where God blesses His people.
2. He said that no matter how God designed and designed the temple, if we do not live the temple life, even the holy temple will be thrown away.
6: If you or your descendants turn away from me and do not keep my commandments and decrees that I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them, 7: I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given you, and I will be holy for my name's sake. Even this temple that I have set apart, I will throw it away before me.”
-However, he said that no matter how holy a temple is, unless it is built according to God's will and designed, it will be thrown away.
3. The corrupted Old Testament temple
Today's text. At the time of the Passover, about 300,000 people gathered to offer sacrifices. Because it was busy and crowded, with permission from the priests, animal sellers and money changers naturally emerged. The place had become corrupted and degenerate like a market.
A church that has lost its essence!
- You must discover the heart of the Lord who feels sorry for you while looking at the appearance of the church risking its life on non-essential things.
Men's and Women's Cushion Chair Chairperson Chair Individual Chair Guitar Drum However, the non-essential things are things that can change from generation to generation. No matter how loudly they shouted, they were all sitting in the funeral home, worshiping, and praising while listening to the drums.
-The essential thing that the church must risk its life to protect is the Word of God. It is the word of the gospel. Because we only know the Word intellectually, rationally, and conceptually, we are more interested in non-essential things than the Word. And no matter how much we pray, no matter how much we read the Bible, no matter how much we worship, there is no joy, no power, and no change. However, believers who obey the Word will experience tremendous changes. Words are power.
When the Lord saw their degeneration in disobedience to God's Word, he held a one-man protest. This was not a political demonstration, but rather a symbolic and prophetic demonstration conveying God's message.
13: As the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14: And he saw cattle and sheep and dove sellers and money changers sitting in the temple, 15: He made a whip out of cords, and brought both sheep and cattle out of the temple. He chased them, poured out the money changers, and overturned the tables. 16 He said to those who sold doves, Take this from here, and do not make my Father's house a house of business. He remembered that he would swallow me up.”
Psalm 69:9: “The zeal for your house has consumed me, and the blasphemy against you has overtaken me.”
4. Demolish This Temple
-The incident in this text is not simply a cleansing of the temple, but an order to destroy the temple itself. The Israelites turned the house of God into a house for people to trade. Markets and temples are different. The temple is the house of God. But markets are people's spaces. The temple is a place where God is glorified. But the market is a place where people benefit. The temple is a holy place. The market is a space that stimulates greed. The Holy Spirit is the principle of the temple. But the market is the substance principle. The temple is filled with love, peace, and service. But the market is kind for profit, but it is a place where there is contention and confusion when profit is hurt.
- The Lord cried out in the temple degenerate like a market, noisy and chaotic with business people. He said, “Do not make my Father’s house a house of business.” And he said to the Jews, “You must destroy this temple.”
18: Then the Jews answered and said to Jesus, “What sign will you show us, because you are doing these things?” 19: Jesus answered and said, “Destroy this temple.”
-Actually, because of the death of Jesus, the temple, which symbolizes the Old Testament times, collapsed. The veil of the sanctuary was torn, and as the Lord said, the temple historically collapsed, leaving no stone on top of a stone during the war with Rome in AD 70. The Jewish historian Josephus says that the Roman general Titus broke through the outer walls of the temple where the resisting Jews were gathered and neutralized the resistance. At that time, Roman general Titus ordered the protection of the temple, but the Roman soldiers were so excited that the temple was burned into a sea of fire. It was the end of the corrupted temple. An abandoned temple.
5. I will raise it up in three days.
"I will raise it up in three days." 20 The Jews said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" When the disciples remembered these words, they believed the Scriptures and the words that Jesus had spoken.”
As the prophet Zechariah prophesied
[Zechariah 14:21] “21: And all the pots in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holy to the LORD of hosts, and the sacrificer will come and take the pots and boil the meat in them; on that day the Canaanites will be in the house of the LORD of hosts. there will be no more”
-The words of this prophecy are the proclamation of the restoration of the Jerusalem Temple to Israel, which had been deprived and lost. The Hebrew word ‘canaan’ here means peddler. In the new standard translation, it says hawker. He promised a temple where there will be no more people who trade in the temple. The temple is not a marketplace. What kind of temple is the temple that you are rebuilding? The temple is God's consideration for walking with us, and the church is a symbol of God's presence that is always with us. To the Jews at that time, it would have been a bizarre story, but our Lord made known to us the church He designed. He said that He would demolish the Temple of Herod, which had been repaired and expanded for 46 years, and built it in just three days.
[conclusion]
So, what is a healthy church that the Lord redesigned and designed?
1. The church is the body of Christ.
[Ephesians 1:23] The church is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
[1 Corinthians 12:27] Ye are the body of Christ, each part of it.
[1 Corinthians 3] “16: Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17: If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. The temple of God is holy. So are you.”
[1 Corinthians 6] “19: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? turn”
-The church is the body of Christ itself.
2. Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the Church, the body of the Lord, was established.
[Acts 2] “1: When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all gathered together in one place 2: suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a rushing strong wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting; 3: 4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them utterances.” This is the church that began through the Pentecost of the Holy Spirit.
3. The church, the body of the Lord, was established on the confession of faith of the saints.
Disciples of Jesus..Even though they followed Him, they did not know Him.
[Matthew 16] “15: He said, “Who do you say I am?” 16: Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17: Jesus answered and said, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona. Flesh and blood did not reveal this to me, but my Father who is in heaven 18: And I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
4. He has established the Church, the body of the Lord, who is anointed with the Holy Spirit and power.
[Acts 10] “38: God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
[Psalm 23] “3: You are holy, O Lord, who dwells in the praises of Israel.”
-In the Christian life, in worship, in prayer, in hymns, there must be the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
- You must be anointed by the Holy Spirit.
- When you receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit, you will discern the meaning of the perfect Word and find the way.
- When you fall into the presence of the Holy Spirit, you will see visions and you will have dreams.
5. The church was established as the eternal body of the Lord.
[Rev 21] “22: I did not see a temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23: The city has no need for sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God may shine on it, 24: The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth will come in with their glory.”
What is a healthy church designed by the Lord?
- It is a church where the members of the body of the Lord are built by loving each other.
= It is a church where the cross of self-denial and love is built to save the lives of all people according to God's will.
