2012. 7. 8 Sunday morning worship service
Bible: Revelation 1:4-11
Title: The Revealed Apostle John
Revelation 1:4-11 ‘4. John to the seven churches in Asia: Grace from him who is, was, and is to come, and the seven spirits that are before his throne, 5. And grace through Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, firstborn from the dead and head of the kings of the earth. and peace to you, who loved us and freed us from our sins by his blood,
6. To him who has made us a kingdom and priest to God his Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen, 7. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him will see. and all peoples on the earth will mourn over him, so it will be, Amen. 8. I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is, and was, and who is to come. 9. I, John, am your brother and the I was on an island called Patmos, a sharer in tribulation and kingdom and perseverance, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus, 10. On the Lord's day I was moved by the Holy Spirit to hear a loud voice behind me like a trumpet 11. He said, "Write what you see on a scroll and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea." - Amen.
Let's take a look at the Apostle John who received the revelation. When writing and delivering letters, we usually bless them in the name of the Father and the Son or in the name of the Son, whereas in the Book of Revelation, in verses 4-6, we bless and greet in the name of the Triune God.
Verses 4-6, God's blessing #3 in the letter to the 7 churches in Asia
4 - The one who is, was, and is to come -> Interpretation in verse 8 - God the Father,
4 - Seven Spirits before the throne - Holy Spirit,
5 - In the name of the saint Jesus Christ,
Heretics who claim to have received a revelation do not testify in the name of the Triune God because they received it from their own thoughts or demons.
1. Reaffirm the main purpose of the revelation received
As explained earlier, the book of Revelation has its center as a prophetic book about the last days due to the characteristics of each book. In verses 7-8 of the text, John again sends a letter to the 7 churches in Asia to convey the basic purpose of the book.
main text
Revelation 1:7-8 ‘7. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him, and all the peoples of the earth will mourn over him. was and is to come, the Almighty.”
The re-emphasis of the word 'it shall be so, Amen' is in Hebrew and Greek, so it is a foreshadowing of the universal coming of the Lord in the sight of everyone, whether they believe it or not. It is to emphasize historical and public future events.
2. John Revelation in Tribulation
The Apostle John received the revelation when he was persecuted during the reign of Emperor Domisian and was exiled to Patmos, where he was meditating alone on Sunday. Those who expect to receive the influence of the Holy Spirit, strengthen their faith, and receive the Lord's special revelation in the midst of a witness to the Word and a faithful life of faith, are almost heretics.
Text Revelation 1:9 “I, John, your brother and a sharer in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus, was on an island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.” island)
Isaiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and strength to the powerless.”
3 Revelation received on the Lord's Day
There are many revelations on weekdays, but it is especially meaningful that they were received on the Lord's Day, and I think it is something the saints living in the last days will listen to.
Revelation 1:10 “On the Lord’s day I was in the Spirit, and I heard a loud voice behind me like a trumpet.”
Listing the graces that John received,
1) Hearing a loud voice like a trumpet - Receiving the Word (10)
2) Receiving the mission of preaching the gospel again (11)
3) Grace to see the Lord Jesus Christ who will return (12-)
How holy and majestic the Lord who will come again is now, the spiritual Apostle John saw the Lord and fell on his face (17).
We looked at the position of the Apostle John who was revealed, and like John, we too live the life of a witness and have the hope of gaining victory by obtaining spiritual revelation in the time of the Lord. I pray for your guidance every day.
