A church that changes the world
Welcome to the new year 2012. May God's grace be with you and your family from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. A life of faith is training to always set oneself up as a worker who is not ashamed before God. All human beings are sinners. Therefore, you will have to change yourself by always repenting. The purpose of the text is to change the fallen Corinth. In the new year of 2012, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will become all of the Seongsan family who change the world through the Word. To change the world
I. We must know that it is a fallen world (verses 9-10). Just as a doctor first examines a patient to heal a patient, and then finds out the disease and cures it, in order to change the world, he must first understand the corruption of the world and find a way to change it.
1. You must know the corruption of the city. The background of the city of Corinth at the time the Bible was written was a trading port city in the southernmost part of the Greek peninsula. And it was like a multi-ethnic, immigrant society where people of various races came to live. So it's a pretty chaotic and chaotic city. It was a corrupt city listing various kinds of sexual crimes in the text.
2. We must know the depravity of our society. The apostle Paul's point is not only deploring the corruption of the city of Corinth. Looking at the city of Corinth now, looking at the city we live in, the capital of Korea, Seoul, I can't help but think that there is nothing better than Corinth society. By all means, I feel that our society is no better than the Corinthian society.
3. We need to know the corruption of the church that is being dyed into the world (verses 9 and 11). Just as the church in Corinth was stained with the fallen image of that society, the big problem is that the church today is also disregarding its prophetic mission and being colored little by little in the world. As a Christian, I knew that was all sinful. I read the Bible and knew. I was educated and I knew. We have knowledge, but that knowledge ends only with knowledge and we are stained with the sinful image of the world. That is why immorality and disorder are gradually coming into the church as well.
II. We must know that we have the power to change (verse 11). A fallen world, in the midst of such a sad situation, but Paul is telling us a truly positive story. Verse 11 says, “Some of you were like this, but you were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” Amen. It is that the church has two powers of self-cleaning and transformation. One is the name of Jesus Christ, and the other is the power of the Holy Spirit.
1. Let's talk about the power of change.
1) The name of Jesus Christ has amazing authority.
2) He has the power of the Holy Spirit.
2. Let's talk about spiritual transformation (verse 11).
1) Sins are washed away.
2) Become a holy people.
3) You will be transformed as a child of God.
Now, in the new year of 2012, our Seongsan Church will experience such an amazing spiritual change. I pray that you believe in the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit among us. Ⅲ. We must become a church that changes the world.
Seongsan Church and its members who have experienced change in the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit have the hope that they can change the sinful world with the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Going one step further, we should not be content with just living a holy life with a right relationship with God by changing ourselves. If transformed in the name of Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God, the transformed church has a responsibility to change the world as well. Hallelujah!
Dear Seongsan Families, today, in the new year of 2012, I talked about the church that is changing the world. For a church to change the world, it must first know the world. We need to know that the world we know is not heaven, but a fallen world. The city has fallen, the society we live in has been corrupted, and we have recognized the corruption of the church that is stained with the world. But it's not something to be discouraged. Because the church has the power to change. We must make the Holy Sanctuary holy and clean in the name of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to restore a right relationship with God. I bless you in the name of the Lord that our church will be transformed in this way, stand upright, and go out into the world to become a protagonist that changes the world.
