The Difference Between a Prophet and Christ
(Explanation to Hebrews 4)
Difference Between Prophet and Christ
(Heb 1:1-3)
The Bible is the Word of God, because only those who have been moved by the Holy Spirit can understand it. And this realization comes from God's special consideration so that only God's people who are written in the Lamb's book of life can understand and believe in Jesus Christ. Therefore, those who read this Bible, understand its words, find Jesus there, and believe in Him are the most blessed people in the world.
1. In the case of the prophet
Therefore, when a prophet preaches the word of God, he must begin by saying, “The word of the Lord has come to me,” as in Jeremiah 1:3. And in order to distinguish them from their own personal opinions and thoughts, the prophets began by saying, 'Thus saith the Lord' before preaching. And the words he proclaimed in the name of God must be fulfilled according to the prophecies of the prophets.
It is because God makes His word spoken through the prophets to be fulfilled according to His word for the authority and glory of His name. This is what Deuteronomy says about this. He said, “If there is a prophet and there is no proof or fulfillment in what he has said in the name of the LORD, it is not the word of the LORD, but the prophet’s negligence, and you must not be afraid of him” (Deuteronomy 18:22).
2. In the case of Christ
Next, what does this mean when it says, ‘In the last days of all these days God has spoken to us through his Son’? What is the difference between the words of God that He spoke as His Son and the words of God delivered by the prophet?
(1) The words of the Son are the words of God Himself, unlike the words of God prophesied by the prophets. God exists in three persons. Any one of the three persons is God, and whatever one of the three persons speaks, the word is the word of God. When Jesus gave a command to the storm and the wind, they obeyed. He came to life when he commanded the dead Lazarus with the word. Not one word from his mouth was unfulfilled. This is because the words of Jesus' mouth are the words of God who created and provided the universe.
(2) Regarding the period that God made his Son to speak, He said, “All these days are the last.” All these days here refer to the entire history of mankind. We can divide the human history of all these days into three divisions. One refers to the period from Adam to Abraham. This period is about two thousand years. Next is the period from Abraham to the time Jesus was born. This period is also about 2,000 years old. And finally, from Jesus to the end of mankind. This period is also revealed to be about 2,000 years.
Only after this last period will we enter two new eras. One is the age of physical rest, the age of the Millennium Kingdom. One is the era of eternity and eternity promised as the New Jerusalem. God sent his Son into the world at the end of all these days when mankind must truly repent, so that he may speak to us.
Conclusion: Our Jesus is truly amazing. He is great and glorious. Because he is God who appeared as a man. This man died on the cross for me. This is my good shepherd, who gives me abundant life, and more abundantly. We are now learning His words and living according to His words. The word of Christ is the word of God and the word of life. If you obey the word, you will receive amazing blessings.
