The Lord Who Fills
Contents, dear saints! The text shows how to fulfill the shepherd's mission of Jesus.
First, the fulfillment of spiritual needs (Mark 6:30-34).
After receiving the report from the disciples who had returned from a missionary trip, Jesus wanted to go to a secluded place with the disciples to rest and fellowship with them. It was because there were so many people coming and going without even having time to eat. But people did not leave Jesus and his disciples alone. Those who knew the ship's destination arrived faster on foot. When he saw those who followed him so diligently, he changed his plan to rest and preached the gospel of the kingdom to people. Because the crowd seemed pitiful like sheep without a shepherd. It is said that sheep have poor eyesight, so they cannot find food alone by searching pastures on their own. In places where there is no large grassland like Israel, the shepherd must lead the flock to find grass that is little by little in the crevices of rocks or in damp places. But a flock of sheep without a shepherd would not be pityingly nurtured. Jesus gave them the form of life, the food of the spirit. How much are you taking the bread of life?
Second, the fulfillment of physical needs (Mark 6:35-44).
Jesus commands the disciples to give you something to eat. It is a difficult command to understand how to prepare food that can be eaten by five thousand people in the wilderness. Even if you have 200 denarii, it is difficult to prepare such a large amount of food suddenly, but the disciples calculated how they could give it to them without the money they had. As Jesus, the true shepherd, leads the sheep through green pastures, ??green grass?? He made people sit on top and set a table to meet their physical needs. Don't you think that God only cares about our spiritual things? If you were a shepherd, what would you do to your sheep? Don't you think that Jesus, the true Shepherd, will do better for the sheep than you?
Dear saint! Thank you for being our shepherd, Jesus, who gives rest to the disciples, cancels the desire to be with them, and fills the spiritual and physical needs of flocks like sheep without a shepherd. Amen
