Old Testament
18. But the LORD awaits, that he may be gracious to you, and he will rise up to bless you.
for mercy; for the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all who wait for him.
19. You will no longer weep, people who dwell in Zion, and who dwell in Jerusalem. He will show you favor at the sound of your cry, and when he hears he will answer you.
new testament
1. After we were rescued, we found out that the island was called Melidea.
2. When it rained and the day was getting colder, the natives showed special sympathy for us, and they lighted a fire to welcome us all.
3. Paul gathered a bundle of wood and put it on the fire, and from the heat a viper came out and bit his hand
4. When the natives saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Truly, this man is a murderer, and he has been rescued from the sea, but justice has kept him from living.”
5. Paul threw the beast into the fire, and there was no damage.
6. They waited for him to swell or suddenly collapse and die, and when they saw that there was nothing wrong with him after waiting for a long time, they turned and thought and said, "He is a god."
sermon
No matter what people call me, what matters is who I really am. A lot of people want to get good reviews from others, and they cling to other people's evaluations, but the important thing for us is to find the true self.
God chose us, who were sinners, in Christ, called us, and made us His children. This is important to us. Who I am is found only in the grace of God.
It is true that we need masks in our lives. As an office worker at work, as a parent at home, as an uncle at home, as a deacon at church, in a sense, they live wearing masks. Because I can't live like my parents at work. But if you think that the mask is me, you are mistaken. The true self, the central self that has taken off this mask, is the 'true me'. Whether people call us murderers or gods, let's focus on God. Happy are those who find themselves in the grace of God.
