The meaning of the cross
Content Title: Meaning of the Cross
Bible: Matthew 27:27-31
As we celebrate the Lenten season, we look back at the event of the cross on which Jesus was crucified, the meaning of that cross, how did the grace of salvation come to us, and why did He choose the cross as the method of salvation? Meaning of the cross and each of us who follow Jesus has a given cross, and how do we carry that cross? I hope that you and I will all realize the love of Jesus and build true faith through the Word of God.
First: The cross contains suffering.
“About the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani, which means, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46) Christians and non-believers also suffer. afraid of things But as we know, Jesus' life on this earth itself was a life of suffering and a life of devotion. God decided the way, and Jesus, who is God, walked the way himself. If you look at the atonement sacrifice recorded in the Old Testament, the lamb chosen as the sacrifice is hung and cut off. Then, without leaving a drop of blood, the blood of the cut sacrifice went to the Most Holy and sprinkled the blood on the mercy seat.
Second: The cross is an expression of God's love.
“Then Jesus said to them, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34) Because Jesus also had a body like ours, he was afraid of suffering and had a hard time. In fact, on the cross, Jesus endured all these things with patience and triumphed, but it was a very difficult and painful time. According to the Bible, God is love. It is written that God loved the world so much, and we believe that the greatest attribute of God is love. Jesus came to this earth to keep the promise of God's love, and Jesus died on the cross.
Third: The cross contains God's salvation.
“Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). We knew that the cross was God's way of saving mankind. And the cross is not only the death of Jesus who came to us in the flesh, but also all human sins. We must believe that God took care of the sins of all human beings born after Adam on the cross. And in order to create a new creation of not only sin but also all things in the universe polluted by sin, He made this universe and everything else die in the body that was crucified on the cross to create a new plan. Therefore, we must take up our cross and follow the Lord. So, God gave us the gift of suffering, and contained the mystery of Jesus, who was victorious by carrying the cross in this suffering and suffering.
