Sermons for Preaching

The one who was sent

Contents

The Bible speaks of John the Baptist who was a man of God.

"There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came to bear witness, that he might testify of the light, that all might believe through him" (John 1:6-7).

The Word is safe to apply to all ministers and church officials.

Because those who have been sent by God are no longer limited to John the Baptist.

This is because all saints have the authority to become children of God (John 1:12-13) and become witnesses to the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8).

Therefore, the text becomes a precious message that confirms the duty and meaning given to all believers.

First, we emphasize that we are sent from God.

“There was a man sent from God, and his name was John” (verse 6).

Here, God's man's position is declared. The Bible emphasizes that John the Baptist or men of all ages are sent and set apart by God.

In general, when we say that we are sent, it seems to refer to a specific person, but in fact it refers to all saints.

The pastor was sent as a pastor only because of his calling to proclaim the Word of God.

It is what God calls and uses as his instrument to accomplish God's will (Matthew 10:40; John 15:16-17).

We call this a mission. Only those chosen for the glory of the Lord.

Second, he emphasizes that he is a 'man' sent by God.

“There is a man sent from God” (v. 6) - pointing to the sent man.

God raises up God's people from among people. God's people are not supernatural.

Not even an angel. It is a being with a body and human weakness (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).

The people of God are not rich, educated, or powerful. God uses His people.

Who are the people of God? Those who live according to the will of the Lord. A person of the Word, a person of faith, a person of prayer, and an honest person.

A person who repents and confesses, a person of mercy (mercy), humility and gentleness (Matthew 5:1-12; Ephesians 4:1-3; Phil 2:5).

Third, the person who was sent is a missionary (witness).

“He is not this light, but he who has come to testify about this light” (verse 8) - this is a missionary.

Those who are sent are witnesses of Jesus Christ. He himself is not the light. But he was sent to bear witness concerning the light. We must remember that those who are sent are those who have received a mission.

All people are imperfect, but there is God's providence to let them preach the Word (Gospel) nonetheless.

The absence of the Word and prayer is the most proactive work of all God's people.

What is clear is the preaching of the gospel of Christ. This is the mission of the one who was sent.

This evidence is a task that we must work together with our hearts, minds, and all our devotion.

That is why the Apostle Paul said, “Let men ought to consider us workers of Christ and entrusters of the mystery of God.

And of those who are entrusted with it, fidelity is what we need” (1 Corinthians 4:1-3).

You too are sent by God. Hallelujah!!
