The Prophet's Monologue (Hab 01:12-17)
Content Introduction
1. The prophet Habakkuk had a question. Obviously, according to his common sense, God was overflowing with love.
2. However, the reality of the nation was not so. Evil leaders prevailed in the country, but God did not judge them. Only regrets that I wish the punishment had been given immediately continued.
3. Not only that, but the enemies who torment the nation are not living any better. Habakkuk couldn't figure out what the hell this was.
4. Habakkuk monopolized two contradictory things.
I. God loves His chosen people (12-13a).
A. It is a proper confession of faith.
1. The Lord is my God who lives forever. Therefore, it is a confession of unmistakable doctrinal conviction that the saints never die.
2. Faith has principles. It is called doctrine. In order to properly understand the Bible, the establishment of doctrine is essential.
3. He understood and praised God's providence.
1) The belief that the reason the Chaldeans were established was to judge the indulgence of the chosen people.
2) The belief that the reason the Gentiles came to their own country was also to discipline Judah.
4. He praised the God of love and mercy.
1) Your eyes are very clean.
2) He does not ignore the suffering of people.
B. We need a profession of faith.
1. It was because of his own faith that Job did not become discouraged even in the midst of suffering.
2. A true confession of faith is a watchman who keeps the faith of the saints.
3. However, false confession of faith leads to ruin of his faith.
4. Let's establish a view of faith based on the Word, not subjective faith.
II. How can you stand by the rise of the wicked (13b-17).
A: I can't quite understand it.
1. Why do you stand by? Why do you stand still?
1) The fault of the leader leads all the people to destruction. This is a fact attested by today's world history.
2) The reason the wicked continue to do evil is that punishment is not given immediately.
2. It was difficult to bear the reality of suffering national pride.
1) Why did the Chaldeans come?
2) Do you make the people treated like worms like fish?
3) Why do you use it as a plaything for anglers?
4) Why do they make us enjoy our pain?
3. The more God's people suffered, the more they rejoiced. They burned incense on fishing nets. That is, they ridiculed the faith of Jehovah. But, on the contrary, it becomes an opportunity to evoke the pride of faith in those who suffer.
B. Evil is never the will of God.
1. Our goal cannot be physical peace. If we seek only physical peace, we cannot expect true faith.
1) In the case of those who came to believe in Jesus because of poverty, most of them are leaving the faith as their means of living become abundant.
2) Whatever a man sows, he will reap what he sows. Those who sow for the flesh will only reap corruption.
2. The wicked can never prosper.
1) There is a clear providence of God. Was it to ruin him?
2) To use it as a grasshopper. The rod is only needed to educate your children. You cannot change the rod and the children.
3. The instant prosperity of the wicked is not at all strange. It is natural. We are only ashamed of our lack of faith because we do not understand and believe in God's providence.
