Title: The Saint Who Sees Above
Bible: Colossians 3:1-10
Starting Point of the Word>>
In this time, we would like to share a sermon with the title of “The Saints Who See Above”
You are probably familiar with the novel.
The main character is a seagull named Jonathan Livingston Seagal.
Jonathan Seagull was a seagull unlike any other.
Other seagulls lived on the beach, searching for food all day long.
When I was full, I played and slept, and when I was hungry, I went looking for food.
But Jonathan Seagull's purpose in life was to fly well.
In the end, Jonathan Seagull was expelled from the Seagull Society for the charge of
Cast out Jonathan Seagull didn't cry because of the loneliness cast out.
It was a pity that my fellow seagulls did not fly even though they had the ability, but did not ascend to the sky despite the possibility and lived only on the ground, and wept and cried.
The expelled Jonathan Seagull trained to soar through the sky to show the seagulls how to fly.
That was a bloody and tearful effort.
Then one day.
Jonathan frantically followed two silver-winged seagulls that suddenly appeared before him.
When he went there, he saw a flock of seagulls living with the same thoughts as him.
It was there that Jonathan Seagull learned more and more clearly the art of soaring through the skies from an old, homeless seagull.
Now Jonathan Seagull has mastered the skillful and wonderful flying art.
Now it's perfect.
I was able to fly higher.
I was able to fly faster.
I was able to fly better.
It has become easier to carry.
But here comes an amazing philosophy.
A homeless old seagull threw a word while teaching Jonathan Seagull how to fly.
It was the saying, “Practice love.
Moved by these words, Jonathan Seagull was on his way back to the seagulls that had driven him out.
It was then that he met a seagull called Fletcher, who was driven away like him.
Jonathan Gull taught the Fletcher Gull to fly high and see far.
This is the content of .
These are the most important words of Jonathan Seagull.
“He who flies the highest sees the farthest”.
In today's text, Paul is also shouting toward the church in Colossae.
What Paul is calling out to the Colossian church members today is to “look at the things above.”
In the name of the Lord, I ask that you, in the name of the Lord, realize what kind of superior things we need to look at through the Word today and become believers who live a life of obedience to the Word.
Go to Word>>
The core of Paul's cry in today's text is, "Look at the things above." How can we see the things above?
First, we must become saints who exalt our thoughts.
In verses 1-2, Paul says:
“Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Paul tells us to seek the things above and think about the things above, saying, “Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God.”
Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God in heaven, so we should raise our thoughts like that.
We should not be living beings looking at things on earth, but looking to the sky and looking to the Lord in heaven.
In order for us to seek the things above and look to the Lord, we must become saints who throw away the things of the earth we love.
Since Jesus is resurrected, we will also be resurrected, and when we are resurrected, we will live in glory with Jesus.
Therefore, from now on, we are to live in a body that will be resurrected.
It means to live by killing the members of the earth.
It means to cast away all the sins of the earth and live.
Today, we ask in the name of the Lord that we will become believers who see the great and high things by abandoning the things of the earth and looking only to the Lord above.
Second, we must become saints who exalt our words.
According to Colossians 3:17,
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him”
We must realize that the saints who live by looking at the things above are the saints who always say positive things.
Whatever you say or do, you must do it all in the name of Jesus.
Many people gathered in a place called Bethsaida and listened to Jesus from morning to evening.
As I listened to the Word, the sun began to set.
Then the disciples said to Jesus that they were hungry and should send them back home.
But Jesus says.
“Give them something to eat”
Seeing what the disciples were saying at this time,
“The time is over”, “This is an empty field”, “200 denarii will not be enough to feed them”
When all the disciples say negative things, a disciple named Andrew says to Jesus.
“Here is what the little boy has: five barley loaves and two fish.”
Andrew's words contained the expectation that if Jesus was with him, a miracle would happen.
Miracles happen to those who speak words that contain miracles.
The history of power is revealed to those who speak the word of power.
We need to raise the level of our speech.
Even if we cannot do it, please believe that nothing is impossible in the Lord.
Words that confess the Lord, words of miracles, and words of power must come out of our mouths.
You must become saints who speak the words of salvation and holy words.
To climb high and have a far-sighted life, you have to raise your horse.
Third, we must become saints who improve the quality of life.
In verses 4-10, Paul says:
“Find the above. There Christ sits at the right hand of God. Think of things above, and do not think of things on earth.... At the time Christ, who is our life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory. Therefore kill the members of the earth. Fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil passions, and covetousness, which is idolatry The wrath of God is coming on because of these things. You too, when you lived in them, walked in them, but now put off all these things: wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another; having put off his clothes and put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of him who created him” (4-10).
There is a saying in this text that catches our attention.
It says, “Kill your members that are on the earth.”
The word “kill” is the Greek word for “necrosurge,” which means to kill completely so that you can never come back to life.
It is to completely kill sexual immorality, uncleanness, lust, evil lust, covetousness, wrath, malice, slander, shameful speech, and lies.
It means to “necro avalanche” so that it cannot be revived again.
This, says Paul, improves the quality of life.
Example>>
This is the story of a woman.
My husband has lost his job.
And the children were expelled from school.
And the children went from place to place and grew up as bad boys.
Life was so painful for this woman that one day she decided to commit suicide with her.
I left the gas valve open in the room where the children were sleeping.
A little later, the house was filled with gas and I began to faint.
But at that very moment, hymns began to resound through the open door next door.
“If I bring all my trials and burdens before the Lord Jesus, he will take care of my troubled days and take all my troubles.
As she listened to that hymn, her eyes suddenly changed.
God began to be seen in the woman's eyes, who had only shown anxieties and pain.
The woman came to her senses.
And I got down on my knees.
He decided to entrust his life to God and to entrust all his worries.
Then he got up, opened the window and drove out the cloudy air.
A few days later, the woman went down to the countryside with her children and started a new life.
And I was able to stand up again enjoying God's blessing in the great nature.
This woman is Mrs. Manicuse Manet, author of the best-selling book Pharaoh.
I hope that we will become believers who improve the quality of our lives today.
Paul says:
The words of verses 1-2 of the text,
“Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of the things above, not the things of the earth.”
At the end of the speech>>
Organize your words.
Today, we shared a sermon under the title, “The Saints Who Look Above.
At this time today, as the fullness of the Holy Spirit is with us, we hope that our lives will change from looking at the earth to those looking above.
From this moment on, I hope that you will become believers who improve the quality of life while looking at the grace of God working for our lives.
First of all, I hope you raise your thoughts.
Also, I hope you raise your words with positive words.
Finally, I hope that we will improve the quality of life given to us.
Today, God grants me and all of our members the wonderful blessing of living with the above.
I pray in the name of the Lord that you will have a precious day filled with God's wonderful grace even in your daily life.
