The two greatest missions of saints
The two greatest missions of saints
(John 21:16-17)
1. Loving God
People are very different depending on what they love. If the object of your love is God, your life will be the most blessed. So the Lord entrusted Peter with the mission and did not ask anything else. “How loyal will you be? Instead of asking the question, “How will you do your ministry, and will you not give up on your mission even if it is difficult?” He simply asked, “Do you love me?” That means the love of God is the most important thing.
Love is being tied to the object you love. If you are bound to God like that, you will have the power to live without being bound by the world, and you will gain real freedom. Conversely, if you are not bound by God, you are bound to the world and your true freedom is taken away. When a person is tied to God, it may seem like a boring life, but he can enjoy real fun.
In a village there was a calf. When the calf grew up and started making kotours, the calf begged the farmer not to make cottours. said the farmer. “If I didn’t do kotour, I would be like a pony.” said the calf. "no. master! It is an old idea that you have to wear a kotour to listen well. What era are you in now? Even if you don’t do kotour, you’ll do your job twice as well, so wait and see.”
In the end, the farmer didn't cut the calf's kotour, and the calf did as promised at first. But he became increasingly cunning, refusing to work, and kicking the farmer with his hind legs. One day, the calf disappeared from the village. The owner didn't listen and sent him to the slaughterhouse.
Sometimes a saint needs a kotour. The pain of life given to the saints is a kind of kotour. When I spiritually crotch through that pain and give my reins to the Lord, the path to real life opens up for me.
Once you get stuck in the world, it's hard to get out. Joo-Lee Lee died of lung cancer the other day and appealed on TV to stop smoking. After that, cigarette sales plummeted and rose again four months later. It is not easy for a person to get out of a single cigarette. Humans are living beings somehow. Then, when you are bound by God and commit to God's mission, true freedom, joy, and peace are given.
2. Feeding the sheep
The first mission of the saints is to ‘love God’, but the second mission is to ‘love those whom God loves’. “Feed my sheep!” means to love your neighbor. Why did Jesus say to feed the sheep immediately after receiving Peter's confession of love? In the end, ‘love of Jesus’ is the same as ‘love of the sheep’. A sign of love for the Lord is shown in love for the flock.
The fact that the Lord repeatedly told us to feed the sheep shows that it is not easy to love our neighbor. At first, I am determined to love everything, but later, I often give up on love because of trouble, hardship, and disappointment. Knowing such a human weakness, the Lord repeatedly said that so that we could make up our minds in advance.
If you love God, love and respect people. The best personality is a person who values people. It is of no use if you gain the world and lose people. If you ignore people, your self-worth will decrease and you will be turned away from God. One of God's interests is man. The more you believe in Jesus, the more it appears that you like people.
The most important thing to teach when raising children is to respect people. If you ignore your friend, immediately rebuke your child with ‘God’s holy wrath’. If you do not change the habit when you are young, it will be difficult for you to give up the habit even when you grow up, and then you will become the object of God's terrible wrath. The most important thing people should not do is ignore people.
Know your neighbor as a tree and be his land. Do your best to become a precious neighbor who delivers faith, hope, love, and comfort to your neighbors. Do not live as the saying goes, “You get slapped in Jongno and you get slapped in the Han River”, and even if you get hit in the face in Jongno, don't take your anger out in the Han River. Live a life that makes you smile when you come home even if you get scolded at work. To the extent that we live with consideration for others, the vessel of blessing grows.
