In today's text, King Hezekiah of Judah was one of the good kings among the many kings of Judah, and he was an honest king in God's eyes who reformed the faith of the nation tainted by idolatry and made the people worship God rightly.
One day such a wonderful king was seriously ill and received a shocking death sentence from the prophet Isaiah, saying, “You shall die, and you shall not live.” Hezekiah could not help but be astonished when he heard the news from the prophet that he was going to die. It was an endless death sentence from Almighty God, who controls life. No matter how much you wish to live, if God, who is in charge of life and death, dies, who can stop you?
Hezekiah was deeply grieved when he heard this death sentence. In the face of such sudden death, I still had work to do and thought that I had to die, so I began to pray to God with tears that I could not bear.
It wasn't because it was a waste of a trivial life, but because I couldn't leave the poor Jewish people trembling in fear in the face of the threat of the powerful Assyrian nation even now, and my tears flowed down like a waterfall. . Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and wept bitterly, pleading with God and begging with tears.
"God! Remember the good things I have done before you with all my heart." To say that Hezekiah prayed with his face turned to the wall shows that he no longer looks at the world and shows his active faith that only the power and power of Almighty God can save him.
Even for us today, when we face the most pressing problems of life like Hezekiah, we must have an active attitude to believe that only God has the solution to all life's problems, cut the world's cords and cling to only God.
Jeremiah 29:12 “You call upon me, and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.”
13 “If you seek me and seek me with all your heart, you will find me”
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive
believe that it is a gift, and it will be yours.”
Here, King Hezekiah's desire to live a little longer was not simply out of instinctual desire, but out of loyalty to his people. For he could not bear to think and could not bear to see his people succumb to the enemy's kingdom and suffer misfortune and the holy name of God ridiculed. Love God more than anyone else and serve God...
