In our experience, it's easy to transgress when you're with someone, and it's easy to resist temptation when you're with someone. When we think of our past failures, we sometimes express regret that it would not have happened had there been 'anyone'. The only safe zone for testing is being “in the state.” Remembering the Lord anytime and anywhere, walking with Him, and staying in Him is safe (John 15:4-7). The essential task of the life of faith is not 'outside the Lord', but 'abide in the Lord'. “The grace of unity” is only possible in the Lord (Ephesians 1:10). The unity of the Holy Spirit is also the realization of this grace (Ephesians 4:1-3). Even those who cannot be harmonized by human experience can be united under one peaceable leader. Because common allegiance to the leader is the driving force for that unity.
