Throw away the title well (Luke 18:28-30)
The text reads that a young ruler came to Jesus and said, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” This is what the Lord said after the very story I asked. The scene where Peter sees the worried young man leaving and says, "Lord, we have abandoned our boats and nets... and have followed you only." is.
1. What should be thrown away should be thrown away.
Just because it costs money to throw out garbage, you can't just throw it away and play with it. Trash should be thrown away. For the sake of health, we must throw away waste products and excrement such as garbage from our body. Likewise, for spiritual health, we must throw away the garbage of our hearts and minds. “In everything count, take the good, and put away every form of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:22), “put away every filthiness and overflowing evil…” (James 1:21). It is a blessing to throw away what to throw away.
2. What should I throw away?
We must cast away all 'sin'. Because the Holy Spirit hates sin. Because we have been born again in spirit and become children of God through the work of the Holy Spirit, we must now cast away sins and evil as our Father wants us to and mature as 'people of the spirit'. If there are still remnants of sin that come out of the character of sin, we must decide to throw it all away in order to be with the Holy Spirit.
Also, we must abandon the 'world'. This is not to say that you should run away from the world. It's not about building walls with the world. We must live in the world and fulfill the mission of 'light and salt'. But the world is something we have to overcome, change and restore, not something to love. If you love the world, you are bound to fail. I went to get them all, but they just got stolen. So, the Bible tells us not to be forsaken by the world, but rather to forsake the world. When we forsake the world, we can bring the world back from the devil.
Also, you have to let go of your 'self'. In the text, 'Your house or your wife? In fact, the saying 'Put away your brothers, parents, and children' means that if you forsake 'me', it will be all over. It says deny yourself and follow me. Don't try to make the Lord fit you. I must be digested by the Lord. By insisting on me, I must not indulge in self-obsession and self-pity. Just as the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3, he regarded all that he boasted as waste and threw away everything in order to gain Christ for Jesus.
3. Filled with Jesus.
You should fill in the empty spaces left behind by throwing them away. Why should I throw it away? 'To fill' with good things. What should be thrown away, what should not be thrown away. Why do we have to forsake 'sin', 'the world' and 'self'? To fill it with Jesus. Everything we seek, every blessing, every treasure is in Jesus. Fill it with Jesus. This is 'filled with the Holy Spirit', 'filled with the Word', 'filled with love', and loving the church, the body of the Lord.
What are you throwing away now? What are you giving up because of Jesus? The Lord promises to bless those who have given up well to fill them with Jesus in the present time and to give them eternal life in the next life.
