To be forgiven, forgive (Matthew 06:14-15)
Contents If we, who have been forgiven for our great sins that deserve eternal punishment through the boundless grace of Jesus Christ, condemn our neighbors severely and try to harm them, this would be a betrayal of interest. We have to forgive our neighbors with the love of Jesus Christ and consider those who forgive us so that they can lead successful lives. This is the correct attitude of a believer.
When Peter asked, “Lord, how many times can you forgive a brother when he sins? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “Not only seven times, but seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:22). After that, he gave the following parable.
When a king was accounting with his servants, he realized that there was a servant who could not repay 10,000 talents, or about 10 billion won, so he called the servant and commanded him to [sell his body, wife, children, and all that he had, and all that he had, to pay it back]. Then the servant fell on his face and bowed down, [Have patience with me. I will repay you all.” The king, having pity on this, forgave all the light and let the servant go. But when he met a colleague who owed him 100 denarii, or 1.5 million won, he was imprisoned for not repaying it right away.
A colleague, who saw this evil deed, confessed this to the king. Then the king did as he did, and called his servant and said, “Evil servant, I forgave you all your debt because of your prayer. As I have had pity on you, so you also have pity on your brother-in-law. It was.
After finishing this parable, Jesus said, [My heavenly Father will do the same to you, unless you forgive each of you your brother from the heart] (Matthew 18:35).
There are many people today who live with great pain in their hearts. It's because we can't forgive each other (connected life). Jesus said clearly, [When you stand and pray, and if anyone has any accusation against anyone, forgive him, and your Father in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions] (Mark 11:25). There is not a single person in life who does not need forgiveness. The saints are chosen beings who have received invaluable forgiveness. Therefore, we should forgive our neighbors without any stinging and live for their success.
Prayer: God of forgiveness. Thank you for your valuable words during this time. We realize that our heartache comes from not being able to forgive one another. Let us be the first to seek forgiveness, so that we can show the image of reconciliation. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
