To receive the reward (Hebrews 11:5-10)
Today, the global village is fighting a battle for survival in order to make life more prosperous. In the midst of this, many sad accidents happen, sometimes running, getting frustrated and giving up on life. We would like to realize through today's sermons that our situation is wrong, rather than finding the cause of wrongdoing only in the evil structure of society.
Today's topic is <To receive a reward>. As a Christian, what does it mean to receive a reward or reward from God? And the prize tries to ponder what reality is and what value it has in faith.
1. Salvation is total grace, and the reward is the fruit of effort.
Everything is by God's grace.
At this time, God made a plan to recognize believers as righteous by giving His Son Jesus Christ to the earth. He sent His Son into the world to enter the Jewish community, but they, like us, were still thinking of salvation through works of ethics, so-called legalism. John 6:28 If you see them asking, "What must we do to do the work of God?" But Jesus' answer was completely different. John 6:29 "Jesus answered and said, "The work of God is that you believe in him whom God has sent.
The Bible teaches us to be saved by believing rather than by our works.
Romans 4:6-8 'As David spoke of the happiness of those who, without work, are counted as righteousness by God, 7 blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered, 8 As it is said, “Blessed is the man who will not acknowledge him.”
That is why Christianity is called a religion of faith, not a religion of ethics, mystery, or works.
Romans 3:26-27 “At this time, he also showed himself righteous, that he might be just, and that those who believe in Jesus might justify.” 27 Where then can we have any room for boasting? by what law, or by works, but not by faith? by law'
However, from the moment you become a child of God, you need to make a religious effort to enjoy the grace of God's work. Salvation was purely the work of God alone without boasting, but in order to receive and enjoy blessings on earth and to receive the reward in the kingdom of eternal life, an act of faith is required. When you become a saint, living according to your habit and just by your will requires a lot of effort for special grace and miracles.
2. Reward from God
Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
The word “misqapodovth” means reward. It means to pay a salary or to give a reward. About the religious attitude in the process of receiving the reward, Hebrews 11 tells us that there are many great men of faith such as Noah and Abraham. It explains the traces of their faith. The prizes referred to in the Bible are divided into present and future.
1) The present are the things that enrich the lives of the global village
Recently, the church society has fallen into a realistic value ideology. However, if you believe in God, receive atonement, and become a child of God, you must also receive and enjoy grace. Those who deny the enjoyment of grace are still unconfirmed religious people as children of God.
Romans 8:32 "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him also gift us all things?" It will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.'
This is an amazing way the world has never had. It's a very easy way to get grace. It is not God's fault that even the same saints did not receive the blessings they should have received through prayer, but it is a common promise.
James 4:2 You lust, and you do not get it, you murder, you envy, but you cannot get it; you fight and fight; and you have not obtained, and you do not ask.
2) There is a reward in the afterlife
Hebrews 11:16 “They now long for a better homeland, which is in heaven. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, but has prepared a city for them.”
Philippians 3:14 “I am pressing toward the goal for the reward of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
How can we taste and enjoy the eternal reward of heaven on earth? A person who is only imagining this vaguely and is not interested in it cannot live a spiritual life of faith. From a biblical point of view, many believers are experiencing, feeling, and rejoicing about the reward they will receive in the kingdom of heaven.
Romans 8:18 'I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us.' Faith to receive a reward in heaven must have a secret philosophy of life. Matthew 6:2 “Therefore, when giving alms, do not blow the trumpet before you, as hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to get people’s glory. You have already received the prize.'
If you have some honor in the church society, you don't know how much you want to reveal yourself, so you like to advertise in the media and are noisy. Because these things are all rewarded in the world, there is no eternal reward in heaven.
3) Lifestyle for a reward on earth or in the life to come
There are many great men of faith, but it would be good to think only of Noah and Abraham in today's text.
(1) Like Noah, we need the effort of faith to build the ark.
Text 7 'By faith Noah, being warned of things he had not yet seen, built an ark with reverence and saved his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is based on faith.' Building an ark is not a customary work. It requires considerable sweat, wisdom and patience.
(2) We must go the way of obedience by faith like Abraham
8 'By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to a land he was to receive as an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going.'
If Noah's food means a church-centered biblical life today, Abraham's obedience is a position of trust in the miracle of faith. The Christian faith requires a great sense of adventure from a psychological point of view. If we want to live on God's promises, we have to stand firm on God's promises and riskily obey and follow the path.
Church life has regular doctrines and life patterns, so it must follow the form of community life. Only then can you receive the grace that God gives you. And personally, in order to receive the miraculous grace of God, you must have the mystery of faith. It can be achieved through obedience. There are times when the world's standards do not give you answers, but if you have faith and understand and obey, miracles will happen.
Believing in Jesus is a blessing in two ways.
One of them is the amazing salvation through which we receive eternal life. Another thing is to be able to taste the actual miracles of God, and for this to happen, you must realize that you must have a religious attitude and effort. Nothing in the world is achieved without effort. God's salvation has nothing to do with our efforts, but the blessing we receive from grace requires effort. The blessing does not come from any simple prayer meeting, the laying on of hands, or the guidance of a specific person. It takes a lot of patience and hard work.
By doing so, you will receive many blessings from God and enjoy it, but if you live according to the way of a secret servant who consumes you in order to display the glory of God, you will know that there will be a reward in heaven. . *
