Text: Matthew 8:18-22
A man went to the construction site and made a living every day, and while lifting heavy objects at the construction site, he injured his back so badly that he could not work and collapsed. As the head of the family was sick, the family situation was not good. He went from hospital to hospital to fix the pain, and had undergone several surgeries, but the back pain was still there.
He sat down like this and was worried that he might become paralyzed forever. As the person who was supposed to be active outside was lying in the room, all kinds of thoughts made his head more complicated. As he forgot all the money he had saved and gradually lost hope, a friend came to visit him, and wherever he went, there was an oriental doctor who treated him with heart and sincerity. The person was dubious, but with a sense of grasping at least straw, he went to the oriental clinic that a friend introduced him to.
The oriental doctor asked the patient who came to him to tell him where and how he injured his back, and what hospital he visited and how he underwent surgery in detail. The person explained in detail the background of the back injury, adding to the various difficult circumstances he had been through.
After listening to the patient's explanation, the oriental doctor straightened the patient and then turned it sideways, taking pictures from various directions with a digital camera. Then, I touched the patient's painful area with my hand, and this back was not the back injured at the construction site, but in fact, there had been a strain on the patient's back for decades, and when the force was applied all at once at some point, the pain felt as if the back was sprained. explained that When the patient asked, "Is it something that can't be fixed?", the doctor said that it could be easily fixed by removing the foreign body between the lumbar vertebrae.
To him, who was almost in despair, the words were like a ray of light, but to him, those words easily reached his ears and he did not close them. The reason was that he had been to several hospitals, had X-rays taken several times, and had several surgeries, so he couldn't believe what the oriental doctor was saying.
The oriental doctor gave a surprising word to the patient who had such a question. “General hospitals rely on machines and drugs for treatment, but since I use the purely touching method of the patient's painful area, it is impossible to receive treatment here unless the patient opens his/her heart first. ” What the oriental doctor is saying is that we should throw away our stereotypes, that is, prejudices.
Usually, when we have back pain, we go to a large hospital and take an X-ray first at the recommendation of a doctor. Then, based on the results of the X-ray, a decision is made whether to have surgery or only medication. However, when hospitalized for back pain, almost 80 to 90% of cases are identified as herniated discs. If you are diagnosed with a herniated disc, surgery is inevitable. It is our general idea to have such an idea. However, the oriental doctor here said that the herniated disc can be easily repaired without undergoing such an operation. If true, that would be surprising.
An oriental doctor first informs the person who wants to receive treatment in detail how back pain occurs. Although it is not possible to record everything he said here, after hearing the treatment method of an oriental doctor, about 50% or more of everyone has hope that their disease can be cured. Therefore, the patient opens the door to the heart and listens to the doctor. Therefore, people who come here because of back pain are not called disc patients, but just ordinary people.
A patient who suffered a back injury at a construction site heard the doctor's advice and gave up his thoughts completely and entrusted himself to the oriental doctor. Then, day by day, he started showing signs of improvement. After visiting him four times a week and receiving treatment that way, at first he couldn't control his body properly, so he began to walk and later to do light exercise. After a couple of months of continuous treatment, he became so healthy that he even started running.
Then, he went to a friend who was suffering from back pain just like him and told him his story and encouraged him to visit the oriental doctor. However, the person who was introduced by a friend did not seem to like it because it was a small oriental clinic. What's more, I thought the oriental clinic would be overcrowded with patients, but when I saw that there weren't many patients, I didn't seem to mind. Perhaps because of such a thought, even while consulting with an oriental doctor, he has a sullen expression on his face.
The oriental doctor read his mind at once and said, “How would you like to receive treatment or go to a large hospital for treatment?” will ask The person reluctantly says that he will seek treatment because of the face of the friend who introduced him. However, in the corner of his heart, the thought of an oriental medicine clinic that does not leave much of his mind does not leave his mind. After all these twists and turns, the treatment started, and a month has passed since then. However, the results of treatment are only slow.
The friend who was treated earlier believed the oriental doctor's words and followed his instructions, resulting in a very good effect quickly, but the latter person was filled with distrust of the oriental doctor and did not do anything as the oriental doctor told him. As a result, of course, good results could not have been obtained. What we can know here is that even with the same disease, the disease may or may not be cured depending on the patient's mind.
You can see that Jesus, who came to the land of Israel, used all kinds of methods to save the people of Israel living under the law from their sins and enter eternal life by comparing them with various words. However, no matter how good the words are, those who do not know that they are sick sinners will listen to them kindly. Needless to say, the effect of treatment will be the share of the person who wants to get better.
The same is true of those of us who live under the law of the Holy Spirit today. When the Lord comes before us like a thief and speaks to us, those who realize that I am a sick sinner who has disobeyed the law of the Holy Spirit will hear the words of the Lord heal my sick soul, and will put everything aside to believe. will be.
However, for those who do not realize that they are sick sinners, no matter how good the Son sent by God is, they will eventually reject the words of the Son. In the end, his stubbornness and self-will with his convictions will plunge him into the abyss of destruction.
Therefore, when the word of the Lord, the healer of our souls, is heard, we must immediately put down our thoughts and submit ourselves to the word of the Lord. -He who has ears, let him hear and understand!-
