Where are the nine? (Luke 17:11-19)
I pray in the name of the Lord that God's great grace be with you.
On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus passed between Galilee and Samaria. As he was entering a village whose name was unknown, ten lepers saw Jesus and, unable to come near him, raised his voice and cried out from afar.
“Jesus Teacher, have mercy on us,” he begged earnestly.
Jesus took pity on them and said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” Upon hearing this, their bodies were cleansed on the way to the priest.
The nine who were healed went home, and one of them, a Samaritan,
He came to Jesus, fell at his feet, and gave thanks.
Jesus 曰 “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the nine?
Rise and go, your faith has saved you.”
The Jews viewed leprosy as a punishment for those who committed certain special sins.
Leviticus 13:45-46 “It is unclean for a leper to rip his clothes, let his hair loose, and cover his upper lip. You will be called unclean, and you will always be unclean while you are sick. He is unclean, and he lives alone, but he lives outside the camp.”
The poorest man at that time was the leper. If these people were healed by the power of Jesus, they should have been thankful, but instead of giving thanks, all nine people went to their destination.
First: We are all blessed.
It is the grace of God that we are still alive.
1. Grace of Salvation
Just as he saved the people of Israel from Egypt, the city of sin.
In this world full of sin and evil, it is like drinking water from sin.
Jesus died on the cross to save us.
He saved us. And the grace that saved me so that I could live as a new person
the greatest blessing

2. Grace of Protection (Caring)
It is the grace that keeps us from falling into the pit of sin and Satan.
Keep me from failing, keep me healthy so I don't get sick,
The grace that protected me from various accidents or dangerous things
However, many people do not forget the grace of salvation and live with gratitude, but they do not remember the grace of protection well.
If you are grateful to have been cured of leprosy, how grateful you are to have lived without leprosy until now?
I am grateful for the grace that made me rise again from failure and setbacks, but how grateful is the grace that has kept me from failing so far so that I can live a smooth life?
3. The Blessing of Harvest
This year too, God has given us many things.
He gave sunlight and allowed rain, so that every plant and animal grows every time
He gave a great harvest.
This year too, he did not turn away from the sweat of the farmer and gave a lot of harvest.
Entrepreneurs work hard, business prosper, and students who work hard
You gave me good grades.
The greater harvest for us, visible and invisible, is the harvest of faith.
Our faith has grown even more.
Our love grew even more.
Our hopes have grown even more. Hallelujah!
Second: Many have received grace, but few are grateful.
All ten lepers were healed, but only one Samaritan returned to give thanks to the Lord. To put it bluntly, this means that there are many people who do not know gratitude.
If 100 people gather here, 90 people are just people who live without gratitude.
If there are 1,000 people gathered here, 900 people are living without gratitude.
If 10,000 people gather here, 9,000 people live without gratitude.
Story : Samuel Lifewarts - Lawyer (Sincerity and Competent)
Through his defense, 78 prisoners sentenced to death are said to have escaped the death sentence. However, none of the 78 people expressed their gratitude to the lawyer. There are so many Christmas cards coming in on Christmas Day, but none of the prisoners who were saved thanks to this lawyer have sent them.

Then why didn't the nine have thanks?
1. Because the things of the world precede the grace of God
Their desire to return to their hometown and to meet their family and friends was stronger.
In fact, not so long ago, they had stood before the tragic disease of leprosy and had been isolated from their families and the world.
But they left them as soon as they were healed, though the world had forsaken them.
It was back to the world.
In this way, those who do not have gratitude always live their lives centered on themselves.
They are busy eating, drinking, marrying, getting married, buying and selling houses.
Of course, it cannot be said that it is wrong to say that people are concerned about the
It is wrong that the thoughts of these people are all focused on the affairs of the world.
Unlike beasts, humans have a longing heart for eternity, a heart to fear God, and a heart to give thanks for grace. not realizing this.
That is why many people fail to put the grace they have received from God first.
live ahead
They are not interested in God's grace, but are only interested in things that are related to themselves.
The nine who were healed did not return to give thanks.
This is what we see as typical of a corrupted humanity, in which people never return when what they want is accomplished.
Where am I interested in living today?
2. Because I didn't understand God's grace
If the nine lepers had contemplated the grace of being healed,
Surely there would have been thanks. There was no gratitude because he could not count the grace.
Life should be lived by counting the small things and the big things in everything.
In particular, we must count God's grace every day.
“Where are the nine?”
This question is what God is looking for for Adam, who is hiding because he sinned and ate the fruit of the forbidden fruit.
It's the same as what you asked.
This question is asked when a person is not in the place where he should be standing and leaves his seat.
is the question you are asking

The ten lepers had to stand before Jesus.
However, the nine did not appreciate God's grace and went away.
Those who should be most grateful did not give thanks to the Lord.
Nine were Jews.
They are people with great grace from God.
They were descendants of Abraham, circumcised, law-bearers, chosen people, possessing temples and worship, but they were stingy in giving thanks to God. A person who receives grace and does not show gratitude is an ungrateful person.
3. Because I Forgot My Unhappy Past
They had an unfortunate painful time not long ago, but they forgot the unfortunate past.
A person does not have to cling to the past, but one must not forget the past either.
But they forgot.
In the midst of bitter anguish and pain, praying desperately,
When it happens or passes, God's grace is forgotten.
If we too follow Jesus loosely, it is easy to forget the grace of the Lord.
Follow Jesus, but follow closely.
4. It was because they did not know how much gratitude would benefit them.
Those who have gratitude receive grace and blessings.
God gives grace to those who give thanks.
When the Samaritan gave thanks to Jesus
On top of physical health, even the soul was saved.
Third: How can I thank you?
1. Give your best thanks.
2. Let's not do it by force or stinginess.
3. Count the grace and blessings we have received and give our best thanks with all our heart
4. Trust and give thanks for more blessings in the future
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits.”
We have received many blessings from God.
If we have received God's grace, we should be thankful for it.
To give thanks for grace is to please the Lord
It will become a necessary condition for obtaining greater grace, blessings, and joy in the future.
★We have received more grace than the leper healed.
soul salvation,
body salvation,
life saving

Story: After the former president of Ewha Womans University, Dr. Hwalan Kim, resigned as president
Before he died, he said to his many juniors and disciples,
“Do not weep, gentlemen, I have lived to the best of my ability. Now, another life awaits me. After I die, do not sing a funeral, but sing a hallelujah chorus.” and said.
After his death, his tombstone read: “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks.”
