Phil 3:17-4:1 10.2.28
One of the fundamental core doctrines of Christianity is that we are saved through faith in Jesus.
This doctrine is exclusive.
No one can be our savior except Jesus. No one is our savior, neither Buddha nor Confucius nor Muhammad.
And to be saved by faith means that human works, that is, good works or merits, cannot be saved.
This is because no man's actions can satisfy God's heart 100%.
When people ask who is going to be saved, that is, who is going to heaven and who is going to hell, the answer is that good people will go to heaven and bad people will go to hell. No one is perfect enough to be heard. Relatively good shouldn't be.
The Bible also declares that there is no one righteous, not even one, and declares that all have sinned. Some ways are right, but in the end it is the way of death.
Isn't it also in the proverb? It's said that no one can get away with it. So, if only righteous people who are completely righteous and without sin at all are saved, no one can be saved.
So God decided to save us only if we believe in Jesus, who died to atone for our sins.
There are also some important doctrines.
It is the perseverance of the saints. This doctrine is the doctrine that once we believe in Jesus, our salvation cannot be undone and we will surely be saved. The basis for this is as follows. The subject of our salvation is God. Rather, God first designated us and called us so that we could believe in Jesus and go to heaven. However, that God made no mistakes and had no regrets about the decisions he made.
Therefore, it means that those who are truly chosen and called by God and are saved will never be dropped out in the middle. It is a decision made by a faithful God, so there is no regret and he does not cancel salvation just because something bad happens.
Therefore, it is said that those who have been saved can rest assured. Heaven is a different party.
However, there are two reactions of the saints to this doctrine.
In one group, even though we are sinners like this, there are people who say that we are saved because Jesus atoned for our sins and now we want to throw away the sinful life that the old people enjoyed and live holy lives according to God's word.
But on the other hand, anyway, even when I was a sinner, I was saved only by faith, and once I was saved, I was guaranteed to go to heaven no matter what. There are people who continue to live immoral and promiscuous lives like those who follow the lusts of the world, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, wondering what the problem is even if they say they live a moderately sinful life just like the people of the world do.
Today's text is that the Apostle Paul shed tears when he heard that there were such people in the Philippian church, telling them to be wary of such people.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you believe in Jesus and live the way of the old person who has not yet been born again, it is said that you are acting as enemies of the cross of Christ.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but for those who have been saved through the merits of the cross to still live a sinful life, it is an insult to the cross and an enemy of the cross.
1 Peter 4:3 says that the past is sufficient for you to do according to the wills of the Gentiles, in sexual immorality, lust, drunkenness, licentiousness, pleasure, and lawless idolatry.
If a saved believer hears the doctrine that salvation cannot be canceled and is vigilant and still lives a sinful life that God hates, it has dishonored God's grace, and such a person's faith is false, and that person will eventually perish. .
We, those who have been saved, will have to get rid of the sinful lives of the past and live up to the name of holy saints like new people.
How can we live like holy saints without becoming enemies of the cross?
1. We must imitate people of great faith.
In verse 17, Paul tells us to imitate ourselves and to imitate those around us who have good faith.
Jesus also set an example and told us to live like that. First, it is good to imitate those who have a good life of faith among those who have believed.
If you want to do business well, you can spread the board next to the person who is good at it and do just like that person.
If you look in the Bible, there are many people of great faith like stars. You learn such people as they are. I believe through the patriarch Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If you try to become like that person without being envious or indifferent to life, your faith will improve greatly.
Therefore, those who were born and raised in a family of good faith are truly blessed. Even if they do not learn separately, they learned through their parents' religious life from an early age, so they can lead a good life of faith without any major errors or mistakes in their faith and thus receive blessings.
Therefore, even for your children, please continue to do well in your faith life. If your children are not doing well in your faith life, it is not your fault.
2. We must make it clear that our belonging is the kingdom of God.
It is said that our citizenship is in heaven.
People act according to the identity of the group to which they belong.
Those who belong to the world will live like unbelievers in the world, and those who belong to the kingdom of God will live according to the way the kingdom of God lives.
Our saints are born into the world and live in the world, but we are citizens of the kingdom of God.
And citizenship in this world will expire after a while. However, citizenship in the kingdom of God is eternal.
Therefore, we must live as citizens of the kingdom of God.
You must know the laws of the country well and live by them.
There is no problem when the laws of the world do not conflict with the laws of the kingdom of God, but if the laws of the earth and the laws of the kingdom of God conflict, we must obey the laws of God.
In God's law, you must not worship idols. However, if the state forces you to worship idols, you must disobey them.
That is why many believers refused to be martyred at the shrine worship.
We were told to rest on Sundays, but we have to exercise our veto power even when it comes to making it impossible to keep Sundays. Our faith is weak, so we are not able to keep Sundays properly in order not to be disadvantaged and compromise. There are people who do not give up and refuse to take exams on Sundays and even refuse to exercise.
In this way, if we clearly and unequivocally believe in God and believe in Jesus as Lord, God will reward us with better things, even if we sometimes face difficulties in this world.
Did you know that the commentator at the Winter Olympics was suddenly replaced yesterday? As a commentator named Zhuge Seong-ryeol, Seung-Hoon Lee actually finished second, but the person who finished first was disqualified, so Seung-Hoon Lee won the gold medal. This scene After seeing the , the commentator commented, ?쏧t was all by the grace of the Lord,??but I was wrong.
Both the commentators and the players turned out to be people who believed in Jesus. So it is quite natural to see such a scene and say, ?쏧t is the grace of the Lord. But, non-believers and people of other religions rose up. Rather than intentionally trying to say such a thing on purpose, he must have said it habitually without realizing it.
However, in my opinion, it is a very good faith. It is good to have faith that everything is by the grace of God. Even though I lost my pastoral care, I believe that God will repay me with something else.
Citizens of the Kingdom of God have hope.
After this, when the Lord comes again, our low body will be transformed into a glorious body. The low body refers to the weak, sickly, and sinful body we now wear. If we believe in Jesus, our dead souls will immediately However, the body will be resurrected with a glorious and beautiful body like the risen Lord when the Lord comes again at the end of this time.
This resurrection of the body is the proof that our salvation is complete.
Salvation began with Jesus. He was born as a newborn child. Our salvation is gradually going toward perfection and will be completed at the last day. It is the glorious resurrection of our lowly, rotten body.
Everyone, this is the glory of believers. With that hope, you should overcome the temptations of a sinful life in this world and make an effort to live as holy and holy saints.
3. You must stand firm in the Lord.
In chapter 4 verse 1, we are told to stand in the Lord.
The word stand is a word that describes the attitude of a soldier to war.
Soldiers who go to war go forward with strong arms, a strong resolve in mind, and the courage to defeat their opponents.
As the Lord's soldiers, we too must put on the full armor of God and face the forces that test us and oppose us.
There should not be any gaps, nor should you retreat backwards.
We must oppose the devil. We must fight confidently, believing that Jesus is the captain and the Holy Spirit is supporting us.
At that time, we will become people who are not polluted by the sins of the world and keep holiness. We must not leave the Lord even for a moment. We must cling to the Lord. We cannot do anything apart from the Lord.
We cannot keep our faith and holiness.
Please use the Lord as your shield and overcome all trials and delusions.
Everyone, let's imitate our seniors of faith. Let's make them our mantle.
Also, let's keep in mind that our belonging is the kingdom of God.
He is unchangingly attached to Jesus. In doing so, we will not become enemies of the cross and will see the glory of the resurrection on the last day. Amen
