2. Jesus left Nazareth, where he lived, and went to the Jordan River (Mark 1:9)
The reason for being is to leave. I am leaving all the daily life I used to take for granted. Just as Abraham unconditionally left his homeland, his relatives, and his father's house, those who seek the reason for their existence leave everything behind. Jesus also left Nazareth, where he lived. He left for the Jordan River, where the very reason for his existence could be, the sound of a cry from the wilderness that God had sent.
What is the reason for my existence now? What is my mission? Is anyone asking? go away! You have to leave the life you used to live without thinking about it. You have to get away from your daily life. You have to let go to get it. If you throw away small, you get small, and if you throw big, you get big.
It is said that <It's a shame if you don't even light the side fires on New Year's Day>, <The pine needles are perfect for living on pine needles>, and <The square one is right for you>. Whether you are poor or sloppy, it is difficult to give up your daily routine and leave. However, if you look at history, those who found the reason for their existence have left the place that everyone else is rejecting, the place they said is good. By abandoning and leaving, I received the incomparable <blessing of living knowing the reason for existence>.
3. Jesus learned humbly (Matthew 3:13-15)
Jesus, the Son of God, was baptized on his knees by the servant of God, John the Baptist. Jesus looked closely at what John the Baptist was doing. What is Man from John the Baptist? What is salvation? What is history? What is Judgment? He humbly heard what baptism is.
The reason for human existence is not realized like a thunderbolt from a dry sky when sitting still. have to learn You need to know. I need to find it. It is <不恥下問>. There is no shame in asking and learning what you don't know.
4. Jesus prayed while learning (Luke 3:21)
Matthew and Mark said that as soon as Jesus was baptized, the heavens were opened and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove, and a voice from heaven was heard. However, Luke leaves a very special record. It did not happen immediately after Jesus was baptized, but after Jesus was baptized, the heavens were opened, the Holy Spirit came, and a voice from heaven was heard.
We need to pay special attention to the words <When you pray!>. It means that Jesus did not learn like a parrot from John the Baptist. Here, <when praying> has an in-depth meaning. Introspection of what I have learned, God's response, is John the Baptist right? Is there no other way? So what to do? O Father, reveal the will of God who sent me into this world! It was a prayer to let you know the reason for my existence.
In this <Prayer>, Jesus said, “The reason I exist is to set this people free, and to give my life as a ransom for this people. Luke 4:16-21, Mark 10:45, Matthew 20:28” You did. Then the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit came on them, and a voice from heaven was heard, saying, “You are my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
5. Concluding story - What is the reason for my existence?
I'm not a different person, so I don't know anyone else, but I want to make my reason for existence clear. Confucius also said that forty is 不惑 and fifty is 知天命. It is knowing the reason for existence. I am realizing the reason for my existence.
We all have days when we started to exist. Then there must come a day when the reason for existence becomes clear. Jesus Himself showed it. That way is <leaving and leaving - learning humbly - praying deeply>.
