Sermons for Preaching

You must not slander the President.

Contents

You must not criticize the president. / Romans 13:1-2

God establishes families, nations, and churches, and sets up leaders for each,

He gave authority to the leaders. to rule in the name of God

gave power A family leader can rule the family in the name of God.

The leader of the country will also rule the country in the name of God.

can The leader of the church can also rule the church in the name of God.

And God commanded the people. to obey the leader. the children

I was told to obey my parents. the people to the national leader

told me to obey Church members were told to obey the spiritual leaders of the church. That's what Romans 13 means. "Let each one be subject to the superior authorities. There is no authority except from God, and all authority is ordained of God. Therefore, those who resist authority are against the command of God, and those who resist will bring their own judgment." (1-2) Here, 'superior authority' refers to the leader God has established. It refers to the leader of the family, the leader of the country, and the leadership of the church.

Jesus explained the reason why we should obey our leaders as follows.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, my

Whoever receives the sender receives me.” (John 13:20) The authority of a leader is connected with the authority of God.

Because God has established the leader of the family, the leader of the nation, and the leader of the church, to respect those leaders is to respect God. To reject the leader God has established is nothing other than to reject God. When the Israelites rejected Moses, the leader whom God had established in the wilderness, the Bible refers to it as rejecting God.

"Your grumbling is not against us, but against the LORD." (ex.

16:8) Therefore, with respect for God,

We must also respect the leaders that God has established.

But there is a problem. What do you do when the leader God has established is not doing well?

Hitler, Stalin, Kim Il-sung, these evil leaders

Of course, King Pharaoh misused his God-given authority. God will judge them severely. But what are we to do? It is also purebred. It is the way of the world to fight with a sword against an evil ruler. When Jesus was arrested, Peter drew his sword. But Jesus told him to put the sword back. Jesus' way was obedience. It was Jesus' way to be whipped and to die on a cross. Obedience looks so weak and helpless. But that is a human thought, and in God's eyes, obedience is the most powerful thing. God works when we obey.

A good example: What did the Jerusalem saints do when Peter was imprisoned? At that time the wicked king Herod was ruling. Herod had already killed the apostle James. Now he promised that he would kill Peter. Then what did the early church members do? Did you go out and fight with a sword?

that is not so. gathered and prayed. Then what happened? God worked. The prison doors were opened and Peter was released.

What happened to the evil king? After a while, God Himself judged. The Bible records that worms (worms) ate and died. This is God's way. God judges, and we obey. God has clearly spoken. Leave it to me to take revenge. Judgment is made by God. We leave God's part to God, and we have to do our part.

It is said that there is a program called "Nakomsu" in Korea. young people in korea

It is said to be one of the most popular programs of all time. i never

never heard of But what I've heard is that the program mocks the president and insults the government, and it's not just a joke, it's an outright insult. It goes without saying that the world likes this program. Because the world belongs to the devil, and the devil likes to curse, ridicule, and slander. But we Christians shouldn't like such programs. Even if the content of the program is true, just as a child should not curse at his parents, he should not say such a thing to the leader God has established.

We can point out the faults of the leaders. But you must not ridicule or slander. This is because the authority of a leader is an authority established by God. We must have an attitude of respect for the authority established by God. So the Bible says: "Do not slander the rulers of your people." (Acts 23:5) "Therefore, I urge first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and for all who are in high positions... for this is good and acceptable before God our Savior. is it." (Jeon Tim)

2:1-3)

Both at home and at church. Even if the leader made a mistake, the leader

To ridicule and slander is to ridicule and slander God;

same. Wrong leaders will be judged directly by God. God judges leaders more severely than he judges ordinary people. "My brethren, do not become many teachers, knowing that we who have been teachers will receive a greater judgment." (James 3:1)

What did David do when Saul was wrong? What did Saul do when he tried to kill David? Did you fight and kill Saul? Not like that.

David left Saul. Saul was entrusted to God. He could have killed Saul, but he did not. The authority established by God was to respect what was wrong. So God exalted David. He praised me for being a man after my own heart. To repay evil for evil is to lose to the devil. I sincerely hope that you will be victorious through obedience.

Amen.
